Default xb on about.com top 10

So I know how we love to read about our cars in the press. So I thought I'd post this for you guys. not sure if you've seen this befofre but "about.com" doesn't really work with the search engine too well.

about.com has a few top 10 lists which all make a decent read, and our cars just happen to be in a few of them.

http://cars.about.com/od/toppicks/

Highlights:

Top 10 Deals on Wheels:
Scion xB - no.8
Comments: Hard to argue with the other 7 ahead of it, different market segments so different definitions of "value". However I thought we shoulda beat out the corolla CE (no.1).

Top 10 SUV alternatives:
Scion xB - no.4
Comments: hmm, I tend to think of this as the more important list for our cars, b/c its here we are compared to cars which are mostly in our category. The subaru forester (no.3) is not a SUV? I guess not... Can't argue with Volvo's (no.1) legendary safety.. But we should've beat out the Passat Wagon (no.2)... VW has been getting bad marks lately. Oh yeah in case you are wondering... the Element is considered a SUV.

Top 10 cars for your Teen:
Scion xA/xB - no.7
Comments: What's with this sharing a spot thing... but at least they are acknowledging half of scion's intended market segment... get beat out by the Element and Civic here... Chevy Aveo takes top stop... hmm won't really argue with that... lol.. if you want your kids to learn how to take care of their cars, plus its cheap (though daewoo... ewww). I think the first cars they get should always be "beaters".

Top 10 City-Friendly Cars:
Scion xA/xB - no.3
Comments: woo hoo, top 3 baby. But what's up with the shared spot again... Also defiantely have to disagree with this ranking... we should definately win over the echo... or at least the xA definately should. And the Honda insight as number 1? no way... I'd rather have a Prius. With their logic though, the Smart would be number 1 if it ever makes it over.

Top 10 Cars for Women:
Scion xA - no.1
Comments:
ok ok that's not very nice... HAHHAHAHAHAHA.. sorry sorry
but there's not a top 10 cars for men so...
I would've thought the Jetta takes the top spot... every girl I know loves or drives that car (or the Rav 4 [not the CR-V])... The other car I would've expected is the civic (but maybe that's just cuz my sister loves them).

Top 10 Least Expensive 2004 Cars:
Scion xA - no.10
Comments: hmm not much, must be an old list. Besides its only price based.

LISTs we didn't make:
Top 10 Best Cars to Crash - yes well, I don't plan on crashing...
Top 10 Cars for a Rainy Day - The echo makes it but we don't... shrug
Top 10 Modern Muscle Cars - They obviously haven't seen the souped up boxes we're all building here LOL
Top 10 Fuel-Saving Cars - Yeah.. we definately got stiffed here. I can understand losing to the hybrids and the TDI. But the minicoop, Elantra, Focus, Accord and Altima, Malibu and LeSabre? Maybe I didn't really understand what they meant by fuel-saving.
Top 10 Most Affordable Convertibles - ok one of you guys must have ripped the top off by now lol. A convertible box... damn that'd be hot.
Top 10 Luxury Vehicles Under $45,000 - I understand why we don't qualify
Top 10 Road Trip Vehicles - Element makes it, Mazda 6 wagon makes it... well I can kinda see why we don't in a stock set-up.

well that's it ... I'm off to read up on exhausts...oh yeah the tC doesn't get anything... might be too new but... it did get reviewed:

http://about.edmunds.com/new/2005/sc...vdps..5.Scion*

its an edmunds.com review though

Wow. This is the second review that I've read where the reviewer "gets it" with regard to the xB.

Nice write-ups. The xB's will just get better and better, so this way it has somewhere it can go when this happens.

The fuel econo thing is sooo wrong. the only one on that list that might beat the xA is the accord. The road trip cat. would be the xB hands down. Most comfortable vehicle for long trips by far.

It's an ugly mutant, like cabrio raped a bB. It loses it's boxyness and becomes just like all others (pt loser, cabrio or mini cooper)
