Default The Xb called a Minivan....

I was checking out wheels on www.tires.com and they call the Xb a "minivan"...yikes!

I also went to tirerack.com to see if what the Xb would look like with different wheels on but they didn't have a picture of the car yet.

Just Fyi.

I don't care if they call it a mini-van, an SUV, or a tricycle, for that matter. If you like it, that's all that should matter.

So it's a minivan – then it's the first über-cool minivan out there!

it's a wagon. 5 doors, and based on a car's unibody platform.

my insurance classifies it as an 03 toyota. that's it. all my other cars had the make and model, but since i bought the car right when it was new, they had no idea what to insure me for. i told them the price of the car and the VIN number but they were clueless so i am probably getting charged too much. did anyone else have a wrx and switch to a scion? what was the difference in insurance?

The government classified it as Mini Wagon. My insurance just called it 04 Toyota Scion xB.

Well, my registration says "UT" which I think means "utility"

VW already used the "microbus" term, and my xB is smaller than my microbus, so the natural extension was "nanobus"

how about wagon? why does everything have to be a bus? it only holds 5 people. how is that a bus? even a short bus holds like 20 people.

these days minivan usually stands for 7 seat capacity, V6, 3 row seating, collapsable rear bench, and stickering around $30k. that doesn't sound like the xB to me.

UT = utility vehicle.... I dispatch police and I had a cop pull one over right when they came out... On the radio the officer usually says something like this :

" (license plate), it will be a white toyota 2 door newer model"

When he pulled over the xb it sorta went like this:

"no plates, a reddish, square little toyo, uh, hyun, uh.. lets just call it a small car"

God, I wish I had a recording of that - talked to the officer after and told him what it was, had to spell it out for him and of course he said "a sky-on?". Geez!

when I first showed my girlfriend the xB I bought, she was like "what the hell do you want a minivan for?" Then last night, she was with me at a show we took our project car to, and I was like, "you can't even begin to tell me this looks like a minivan."
she just looked at me and was like "you're going to be the ultimate soccer dad...it's got cartoons on the outside (I don't know where she gets off calling our graphics cartoons) and a bunch of tv's on the inside so the kids can watch cartoons!"

AAAAARRRRGGGGGGHHH! Some women, I tell you!

:)

See you all tomorrow in chula vista!

It's miniature and looks like a van. So why not minivan? Just because Minivans are traditionally uncool? I just call it a box. or sometimes "a toyota box thing" when describing to others.

I wonder what the VW thing was classified as when it came out. Just a thing? Ok now I'm off topic on VW's so I'm going to run with it. I like how Chrysler claims they invented the minivan when VW had the microbus way earlier. Microbus-minivan, whatever- chrysler sucks. They also claimed they had the first van with sliding doors on both sides when VW had that (although it was kind of rare) on the Kombi at least 30 something years earlier.

It looks like a box wagon to me. A minivan has a side sliding door and curvey sides and ____. New classification : Box Wagon!
