Honestly, who rice's PT Cruisers to look like anything other than a Hot rod, who rice's RAV-4's? Who rice's an HHR concept? Sorry but the only boxy shaped car being riced around here is the xB.

You're taking this all way to seriously. Pixar is obviously making fun of riced-out cars, so they're not gonna use specific models and ____ the manufacturers/owners of those vehicles off.

Im with them it was an awesome movie that tried to please all car enthusiests (sp) by portraying all walks of life. I give Pixar two thumbs up for creativity and can't wait to see what has been under their sleave when they break away from Disney in the next movie.
P.S. Can anyone tell me what the emblem in the middle of the dirt track that lightning spins out on?

i think DJ in the movie is a xB, somewhat. when i saw the movie this weekend the first thing I thought when i saw it was "that's a box!" I do think it is an xB just highly modified. just my opinion though...

I remember reading an article in autoweek where one of the Pixar guys said something about the box cars from Japan. I think he liked them if I recall. This wasn't in the issue that featured the Cars movie. It was in a couple of issues earlier.

Here's a section from the autoweek.com article:
John Lasseter
TITLE: executive vice president creative, Pixar Animation. Responsible for Toy Story, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles and Cars, premiering June 9
CELL PHONE: The latest I prefer is the new Razr. The one I have now is a flip-open classic V70 Motorola, just because it came with my Mercedes—an SL55 AMG. I believe in hands-free, and the Mercedes system works great.
SHOES: I always wear these guilty-pleasure shoes—Merrell slip-ons. They’re athletic, but they’re basically like a house shoe. Kicking them off and getting them back on is great on planes. I have them in all colors.
HOME: I’d say it is “wine country,” with a little Victorian detail. Crown moldings, octagonal tiles, white brick tiles and pedestal sinks in the bathroom. It’s a white wood clapboard house with a huge wraparound porch. We’re working on a new house.
COLOR YOU WOULDN'T BE CAUGHT DEAD IN: That’s hard for me to say since I always wear Hawaiian shirts. I’ve never been a big orange fan.
CAR ICONS: Europe: Volkswagen Beetle and French GTV high-speed trains, Asia: Tiny Japanese box cars like Scion xB or Nissan Cube, America: I was raised a Chevy guy, but the Ford F-150

There may be some influence from the xB on that car.
