Default 2008 xB Release Series Body Kit...KenStyle

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I have a 2008 xB Release Series and unfortunately the front bumper and spoiler was damaged due to an accident. I've contacted several Scion dealerships and was told that the front spoiler was $1700.00...I asked them if that was the price for the complete body kit and they said that was the price of the front spoiler alone. Is it just me or does anyone else see that there's something wrong with that?

No sir. With the Release Series, Scion charges an absurd amount for a reason. They want to keep the RS parts rare and hard to come by. Keeping the RS's, RS's. Along with the high prices, it takes a lot of work to get the parts. You have to completely prove that the part is being ordered for and by the owner of the RS. It takes a lot of work.

Yes, I understand them protecting the RS. I gave them the VIN on my xB for proof. I don't think the prices they're asking for parts for the RS is fair to the person that bought the RS considering that the RS is only $2400 more than a standard xB. If i would have known this I would have just purchased a standard xB and put the Five Axis body kit on it.

If you are legit and got into an accident then you have insurance, and why do you care what the cost is, all you'll pay is your deductable even if it is your fault.

Yes, I am legit...I have full coverage insurance. However, the accident was not my fault. I did not claim it on my insurance because the other party agreed to pay and we settled. The problem is, the estimate I got to have it fixed was way off. The repair shop didn't know the spoiler was going to cost so much. Unfortunately, the claim was settled before I found out what the spoiler would cost. The estimate for the front bumper spoiler was $425...the guy at the repair shop was even shocked when he found out what they were asking for that part. He said that he could get me a full body kit and paint it for less than the $1700 they are asking for that one part.

Yeap, I called Kenstyle way before I even made a post on this forum. They said that the body kit was exclusive to Scion. However, they did tell me that they would contact KenStyle Japan and see if they can help. I haven't heard back from anyone so I don't know if they were able to help.

The Five Axis does look really nice...I might just consider going with the Five Axis front lip if i can't get the KenStyle front lip for a reasonable price.

Yes the guy that hit my car had insurance...everything was legit. His insurance company settled with me after I got the estimate for repair. However, like I said, the estimate was way off and the claim was settled before I found out the part was going to cost more.

it doesnt matter what the original estimate was, did you cash the check from the ins company yet? Just because the original estimate was done without them doing proper research doesnt mean they dont have to pay for it. if the shop ur going to doesnt have the ***** to work that out with the ins company go to another one who will. and by the way, kenstyle wants $3,100 for the rs5 kit, it aint cheap. I went with the five axis and couldnt be happier, but you dont need to pay for ANYTHING just because the original quote was incorrect

Yes, unfortunately I cashed the check already. I think I'm gonna just get the 5 Axis lip for the front and rear bumper and be done with it. The moe I look at the 5 Axis, I start to like it better than the KenStyle anyway. I would like to keep the KenStyle kit on there just to keep the RS 5.0 all original but I'm not paying that much just for a front lip. The bumper on my xB has already been replaced but it's just missing the front lip for now. It doesn't look that bad so I will live with it until I decide what to do.

What do you guys think about the Razzi body kit and the DURAFLEX Racer body kit? I think I like the DURAFLEX just as mich as the Five Axis.

^^ personally i think the razzi and the duraflex are both pretty disgusting. I dont like the look of it at all, but thats just my opinion. one of the main things u gotta remember when buying a body kit is how much modifying are u willing to do. i think it was "von star" who said he would never buy a kit from Extreme Dynamics (duraflex) ever again because of the amount of work that needed to be put into the bodykit to make it fit properly and even then it wasnt perfect. I LOVE MY FIVE AXIS!! install was like 20 minutes and so so so so so easy!

I say fly that Kenstyle and get the five Axis Kit.. That Kenstyle isnt a lip kit its more of an body accent becuase it dosent bring the lines of the car lower.

You have to also figure if you can get it from Japan.. it will cost you the same by the time you add the shipping from Japan.. and that prob the reason why it cost so much.. and i bet you they dont have the kenstyle just laying around.. they would have to make it and if they have to bring out the mold and set it up just to make one kit.. im sure they will charge you an arm and a leg
