Default Bug Deflector/Rock guard

Has anyone found a decent bug deflector/rock guard for the front?

I have several chips already and am going to have them fixed but need protection first.

Paint quality sucks on the xB2, get a 3M clear bra ASAP.

I put a Colgan Sport bra on my 08 after the chips started, and never had a problem after that. Just bought an 2010 last week, awaiting delivery of the same bra today.

Since you are the "link master" can you hook us up with a link? How hard are they to install and how long do they last?

If you do a search in the Aero & Exterior forum for "clear bra", there are a lot of threads that talk about it. It seems to run $500-$700 professionally installed (I wouldn't try to do it myself). Those who have it swear by it. I never imagined how quickly & badly my paint would get chipped up with normal freeway driving, so I didn't do it and now regret that decision. To find local suppliers/installers, I suggest calling local tint shops in your area for pricing & availability.

Look here, I used this http://www.invisiblemask.com/cgi-bin...SCION&model=XB

If you need someone to install it - find a sign shop that does vinyl

Clear bra is good, but pricey. I use the Colgan bra jusr for the hood. The plastic bumper does better, but the metal hood and nose chip easy. The Colgan strip for the hood is pretty cheap.

I wish I wasn't in so much of a hurry to drive my Box when I got it. It's now chipped and dented to hell on the nose and hood.

The only good thing is I'm replacing the nose with a GT kit and the hood with CF.

Concur? You're saying other vehicles with a vertical nose (including the front of the hood) are resistant to rock chips? Sounds like BS to me! Most cars don't have vertical noses -- no suprise they chip less.

You want fewer chips? Increase your following distance.

All newer cars do not hold up. The clear coats tend to peel paint away when the rock chips.

And yes, the snub nose does not help.

All Scions' paint jobs suck actually!!!
I remember the tC after 1 week on the highway and the hood looked 3 years old.

those clear bra are not easy to install- need a lot of patience, I mean A LOT!
IMO, it's worth paying for professional install.

Agreed!

I tried doing it once with a friend helping me and it was a total nightmare. LoL

I have seen clear spray on bumper protectors, but never have heard how effective it is.
The 3m clear bra looks great though, I have seen a couple in person...too bad it's already too late for my bumper, and front part of the hood. (which stands out terribly on blackberry crush metallic)

Mind if I ask where you got the Colgan bra from??? I might consider getting one for myself

Does anyone know if this is essentially the same stuff the Scion dealers offer for hood protection?
