Default Gauging Interest: LED Tail Lamps (not TYC)

Just gauging interest on LED tail lamps. I've been dealing with this company for about 7 months to finalize the Tundra design. We got our final production set in and it's doing well on the Tundra forums:

Link: http://ibtohq.com/forum/f20/blacked-...l-lights-1490/

Back in November, we touched on possibly doing lights for the xB. I just received prototype 1. I will be installing these when I have some time (hopefully by week's end) so I can get functional pictures, but here's the prototype.

Functions:
Brake Light: All lights on

Parking Light (the low light when headlights are on): The "tube" sections will glow, led will light up when brake is pressed

Turn Signal: The full tail lamp will flash.

I'll confirm the functions once it's installed. The Estimated MSRP is $299. for the set. Installation is plug and play, all the controls are hidden inside the lamp itself.

The inside finish will be available in matte black, chrome w/ clear lens, and chrome w/ smoked lens. The matte black will likely be the first production run, while the other finished will be available in the future.

Please provide some feedback before this goes into final production

red reflector thing is fail

all chrome is fail

I'd like to see all red except the verry bottom have a sliver of clear for a reverse light mod

like this

Even something like the 75/25 or even the rumion lights, but with LEDs

The red reflector: noted. It may be to DOT regulations (these are DOT approved spec).

All chrome: Completely agree. His samples were of the chrome and smoke. The black out backing is going to be the actual production run. He made these with those colors to showcase what can be done.

I'll check into the Rumion-style with LED. That sounds like the possible winner.

i doubt the rumion style will work.. especially if you're keeping it like the ones you have on your picture.. 75/25 would just look awkward if the whole thing is for brake/signal/parking light.. although all red wouldnt look too bad..

I'm installing our test fit set this afternoon once I'm off work. I'll have pictures of the current version. I'll see what we can do about the reflector.

The outer cover is dimple-free.

My 2 pennys... Reflector is probably DOT required so atleast shape it to fill the whole top section dont just use a rectangle... No chrome for sure... maybe matte black with a smoke lens.... Also some reverse lights similar to the tC ones above would be cool, lower inside cornner...

Looks alot like the Anzo's that are out. The all chrome look is not cutting it.
Is there LED's up the sides as well or just out the back?

Here is the anzos.. Look alot alike, but these have a smooth housing.

Here are a few more snapshots - sorry for the quality. The sun was already setting, so we only had about 15 minutes to get some shots.

The lamp is smooth and not textured like the original. The reflector isn't too bad, IMO. The fit was also great. There is one section on the side w/ a few LEDs. Give's a nice little touch. It's only on with the parking lamps though. You can see it in the 2nd to last picture.

Driver Side has the "Chrome" and passenger side has the smoked lens.

The lighting patterns are as follows:

Stop Lamp: All Red on

Turn Signal: Whole Lamp Blinks

Parking Lamp: Dim glow

Turn Signal while Parking Lamp is on: Dim glow with Bright Blink for turn signals

Turn Signal when stopped: Blinks Bright to dim

Here's a quick video: the headlights are on, and the turn signal is blinking.

almost there, but right now they just look like cheap anzo's

but some of the input we've given you should give them what they need to make them a HUGE hit

holy crap they look so nice...its better than the anzo's imho because anzo has two separate LED sections and this one flows more..
one thing i think would be better is if the tubes were the signals.. and if that random reflector was maybe moved or made to be more flush with the tail lights.. mind if i drop by and take a look today jeff? unless you dont have it at longo..

Yea, I'll be in til 4pm today. Let me know if you decide to come by and I'll hold the car hostage... lol

How about:

Make the outer layer red
Leave the bottom line of LEDs w /the clear layer
Make the bottom line of LEDs the turn signal

--

Modify so the "pipes" are amber for the turn signals and have those flash exclusively.

The smoked ones do look alot better. Lit up and on the car they look decent.

Make the left side of LEDs and a portion of the Top LEDs the turn signal (may sweet black line shows what I mean)

ditch the "pipes" all together if you can, if not definitely no "amber" amber will ruin the tails.

I also love the fluid of having no center bar and full LEDs

Go for it!

am I the only one on this site that likes the stock all red tail lights? I have to admit though, I like the way the brake lights and turn signals work.....
