Default help with flickering lights!

Hey guys this morning when I started my xb I turned my parking lights on and when I turned my wipers on the front lights flashed. Just so you know I have the v-leds drl's/blinker which is what was flashing. I also have my heater, radio with 400w amp and led interior lights on. Do you think it was just too much draw on the battery while idling? Is there anyway to fix this? Should I do a grounding kit to make it more stable or just add a zero gauge wire from battery to ground and alternator to ground? Or do you think it is something else causing it? Thanks for your help!

Did the V-LEDs bulbs just flash once very briefly, or was it some kind of continuous flashing without the blinkers being turned on?

They just flash off then back on everytime I turned the wipers on.

If they just turn off once for a split second and come right back on, then it's from the very brief drop in voltage with the power draw of the wipers turning on. I have the V-LEDs dual color front turn signal bulbs with the Toyota LED flasher replacement module (also from V-LEDs), and when I hit the brakes the front led drl/turn signals flash off for about 1/2 second then come right back on. It's normal and nothing to worry about; most people never notice it (especially if the headlights are on too), but you can easily see it in a closed dark garage as long as your headlights are off. If you have other relay problems, such as the HVAC system staying on after you turn the ignition off, then your LED flasher module is faulty. That's what happened to me, and it took two days along with complete dash & center console removal to diagnose it. Now my dash creaks like crazy.

Thanks cionide mine do what yours are doing with just a quick off then back on, they do it with tapping the brakes too. i didn't get their relay just kept the factory one and have the hyper flash! do you think adding a grounding kit would help with the voltage drop?

I have no idea if a grounding kit might help or not, but here's a 20 page thread on grounding kits.

You can make your own quite cheaply with custom length wires (you measure & cut), knowing what level of part quality is involved; or you can find them on eBay and maybe get garbage made from wires that are too narrow a gauge.

Also, with your power draw, I might suggest stepping up to a Optima Yellow Top battery when it's time for a replacement. They're a bit spending, but pretty much the best battery reputation on the market.

Unfortunately I would bet that a grounding kit won't solve the problem. It sounds more like a poor individual ground. Try grounding the v-leds directly to the battery and see if it solves the problem. I had similar issues when i added led turn strips in the lower false vents. They wouldn't light up properly until I re-did the ground seperately from the ground at the lights.
