Default I want *Yellow* Fog Lights

I've seen a couple of pics of 3000K-ish HID kits in the fog lights, and I wasn't too terribly impressed with the color. I have a couple of ideas to get the most yellow light output as possible.

I know that when you order LED bulbs for tail lights, you're supposed to use a bulb with the same color as the lens. I did a little reading, and found out that LEDs emit almost monochromatic light...
so the light output from a red LED is almost entirely in the red part of the spectrum. I *think* that HIDs are similar in that regard.

To that point, I was thinking that a yellow light source AND a yellow tinted lens would provide the brightest and most yellow light output. Any opinions on the below choices?

1. Lamin-X yellow tint with Hella Optilux Extreme XY Yellow Bulbs
2. Lamin-X yellow tint with a 3000K-ish HID kit
3. An option I haven't considered

Any opinions??

If you're looking for a yellow tinted light, the Hella bulbs will work or a 3000K HID kit. If you want the aesthetic look of the yellow foglights themselves, then I'd definitely run the Lamin-X product. If you want both, get the foglights and the Lamin-X. Go from there. If you want some more output, scoop up the Hella bulbs.
I have an HID Extra 3000K kit in the foglights of my Q45. I really like the look. I'd imagine that you would get less output from a tinted lens, even if it were yellow. But you would get less of a yellow beam with a clear bulb and tinted lens.

I guess that's my question...I should have mentioned that I don't want to sacrifice output. I want to have my cake and eat it too lol

Since you want good output, another option may be to track down a set of aftermarket foglamps that come with the yellow bulbs. Compared to our stockers, aftermarket offerings from PIIA or Hella completely destroy our fogs when it comes to output.

I had a set of PIIA's on my truck that fit in the molded front bumper. They were the exact size as our stockers. I had the pencil/driving beam and they were as bright as my headlamps! Got 'em for $100 online. You may be able to find them online somewhere.

I know the IS3000 fogs us an H3 lamp, but I think the lens of the projector is yellow. Need to do more research.

From what I've read, Lexus IS300 and/or GS300 and some Acura (Legend?) use a yellow capsule that the bulb goes in to make that bright yellow color. I'm trying to figure out which model cars these came on so I can find a way to source them. Glad you brought that up xsevered!

I ran yellow overlays and 3000k HID bulbs a while back and the output and look was very yellow, very close to the IS300.

if you go with lets say LUMINATICS jdm yellow bulbs or any high wattage bulb i would recommend upgrading to HIGH TEMP CERAMIC sockets. my OEM ones lasted a few months before they melted and a had to be replaced.....

I had some PIAA driving lights that got damaged so I can't put them on my RS6, I have been shopping around for other YELLOW foglights too. I have been searching other vehicles to "steal" them from. I originally tried to see if the IS300 fog lights would fit, but from further investigation the shapes won't match the XB grill space. I have found some Accord lights that might look good. How many other people like mixing-n-matching other things like that from other brands?

I've had the yellow lamin-x fog light covers for two years with just stock fog lights, and I now noticed that theres a brown almost like a burn mark on the middle of the two lenses. doesn't look good, probably going to peel them
