Default Installing Load Resistors

I'm basically clueless when it comes to electrical stuff, so maybe some of you who know what they are doing can help me out.

I bought the switchback led bulbs for the front turn signals from v-leds. I also got the 3ohm resistors to get rid of the hyperflash. I started on the right side, follwed the basic wiring diagram from v-leds, one wire to ground the other to the turn signal (+). There are 3 wires on the turn signal connector: green, white/black, and blue/red. I used the green for ground and blue/red for (+). Tested it out and it worked perfectly.

Then I went to the left side, this time instead of a blue/red wire there is a yellow wire. Assuming it was the same I used that. Then when I tested it out the left blinker worked fine, but the right had hyperflash. And when I turn on the parking lights, the right side lights up white and the left is amber.

Someone please help and tell me what I'm doing wrong.

j/k

I wish I had an answer for you, but I went with a new LED flasher module so that I wouldn't have to mess with the electrical wiring or the heat-sink plates that are necessary due to the heat generated by the resistors.

go to autozone and buy the electronic flasher module.

its direct factory replacement. will get rid of hyperflash. costs $20 plus tax.

maker is tridon. part number is LM449. still makes clicking sound like factory

With the new LED flasher module you will lose the lights flashing when you use the key remote to lock/unlock the doors, but I didn't care about that.

Don't know what's different about your tridon flasher... I have the Toyota OEM LED flasher part #81980-50030. I would think that Toyota would have kept the flashing parking light feature in their own module, but I guess not.

Do you have this tridon flasher in an xB2, or a tC?
(Not that it should really matter, but maybe it does.)

I just checked their site, and the new Toyota flasher modules that V-leds recently took into stock now include the flashing lights confirmation.

Good find! I might have to pick that up, unless someone has a quick fix for me.

13.99 for the flasher
3.99 shipping (standard USPS)
0.50 if you want the optional insurance
18.48 total

The cost at AutoZone was 21.74 including sales tax, so I canceled the special order since they didn't have it in stock & V-leds is cheaper.

I had one of the original V-leds/Toyota flashers that I bought a couple years ago, but it had a relay problem a few months ago and I've just been waiting for V-leds to restock. Back in action with the switchback bulbs next week!

Yep, the flasher is the way to go. That's what I swapped in to mine. Also it was cheaper than getting 4 load resistors since all my turns are LED.

It's sounds like you connected the Load Resistors to the correct colors for the positive side, according to mine. Remove the wires going to ground from both Resistors and retest. If everything is working correctly, except for the hyperflash, I would run the ground side of both Load Resistors to physical ground.

Just playing with you.

Make your life easy and just pop in the new flasher module.
