We will have access to an xB2 tomorrow. Hopefully, we can take some pictures to show why we made the tow hook the length that we did.

So far, everyone that have purchased the kit seems to be mounting the plate in the center hole. If we knew this was the only position you wish to mount the plate, we could have easily designed the tow hook to be 1/2 to 3/4 in shorter. However, we designed the plate so that you can mount it in any position. If you mount the plate completely offset to one-side, you will see that due to the bumper curvature, the rear of the plate will come very close to touching the bumper. This is why we designed the tow hook in that length.

Regards,
Mike @ PTUNING

so can you offer a shorter one for the center mounted guys. I have no interest in mounting it offset.
Ill gladly send you my longer one back for modification...? Or send me a shorter one and Ill send you the other one back, like an exchange system for those who want it.
thanks

Thank you everyone for all your feedback. We will keep this in mind for future reference.
However, we have no plan to come out with a shorter tow hook version at this time.

Maybe for a future design for the xB2 customers, we will simply re-design the plate to be non-adjustable (center mount only), which will allow for a shorter tow hook section.

Mike @ PTUNING

I mounted mine right in the center cuz i noticed that the plate that mounts to the license plate is kinda flimsy. even when i was bolting up my license plate the mounting plate seemed to want to bend easily.

I figured if i bolt it in the middle it wont vibrate, rattle, and move around while im driving.

2 be perfectly honest if you shortened the tow hook bolt and used shorter screws so the license plate can be closer to the body you sales will def. go up. cuz your design is simple theres no if's ands or buts about that. supply and demand my friend if people are wanting a shorter bolt then you know ...

but its your product so in the end its your decision

The original design was for a tC. We have received lots of pictures and feedback from tC owners. Only a few actually used the center mounting hole. The rest are random locations. Therefore, we used the same design concept for the xB2. Obviously, we did not know that xB2 owners only wish to mount the plate in the center hole. Actually making the plate center mount only would have been easier to design. This is something we have to think about for a possible revision for the xB2.

I would venture to say that the pre-order is over since these are now in production...
You can buy them here...

Well, PT PM'ed me, and no pre-order anymore, however, I google "ptuning code", got a 5% off of the total, that's $75.xx to my state. Still a good deal.
