I got mine from a local cycle shop. Alamo Cycle Plex.
If you do a google search for Back Off XP you can find it. The XP works with LEDs.

Excellent product, I have had one in my truck for over 5yrs and one in my Focus for almost 7yrs.
I hooked them up with male and female plugs so you can disconnect them if you sell your vehicle and put it in your next one.
It has 2 modes, 5 flashes and then steady as long as you hold the brake or 4 flashes and 1 steady for 3.5sec then it repeats.

Nice, I will be buying this.

Where did you end up mounting the box?

Great idea, I gather our rear center light is already LED, so it's just a question of installing the flash unit.

Just pop the light off, there are 4 clips holding it on. There is a hole where the wires come out that is big enough to put the unit in. It comes with double sided tape to mount it with.

Yeah, they are LED, at least on the 2011s, that is why you need the XP.

This is probably even more effective with the Oznium TBL, that thing is huge.

Just installed mine and it works great! I'm using mode two were it flashes five times and then remains on until the brake pedal is released. It also has a mode where it continually flashes when the reverse light is on. I may use that later, though it requires a wire be run to the reverse wire.

Here's the install (I used velcro instead of the supplied dual-sided tape):

I have Oznium's TBL. I wonder what it would look like if I ran the Back Off mod on it?

This is pretty cool! I guess I have to head over to Alamo Cycle Plex. How much did they have it for?? I also wanted to get the Oznium TBL, I bet that would stand out alot.

It's so worth it. I have it on my box, and coupled with my LED tails, the brake lights are phenomenal.

Alamo has them for $45, but you have to have it special ordered. They don't stock them at the shop, takes about 3 days for them to get it.
You can find them online for about the same price shipped to your door.

So I have to ask...is this really supposed to make people back off, or is this just one of those "for the heck of it" mods?

I had to remove the left rear interior panels and so I took the opportunity to run a reverse wire to the flasher. Works as advertised and should help capture attention when the cyclops eye turns on!

Here are photos of the reverse wire install. The portion hidden by the headliner is taped to the chassis above the liner and enters the hatch door via the center rubber flex coupling for the rear washer hose.

Once again, thanks for the flasher idea RicRat -- it's a great mod !

The flashing light is likely to gain more people attention than a static one, and thats a good thing.
