Default yellow ebay foglight install

well i put my yellow ebay foglights on today. got them for $94 shipped through scionsport here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Scion...spagenameZWDVW

got them in a few days from cali to ky. they cam in brown box with no instructions or mounting hardware. pretty generic but will work for me. it is the same install as the factory foglights. you do have to cut the grill and it uses the stock wiring. sorry for the crappy pics, they were done on my iphone.

here is what i got in the mail

ATTENTION: i am not responsible for any misrepresentation or damage you cause. please use the foglight instructions at trdsparks.com. its free and tells you exactly how to install them. i have modded plenty of cars and basically i did this on my own and improvised on my own.

so lets start, first these metal pieces that help hold the bulb in came off on both lights. i ended up cutting them off, heres what they look like.

since i have 6k hid's, i used the rubber seals on the headlights and doubled them up so it has a tighter seal, this is what it looks like.

so now with the bumper off

install foglights. they go in the same place as the factory ones. you will need your own hardware to mount them.

use the template you can download at trdsparks.com. i didnt use, i eyeballed it and trimmed to fit. i didnt use any hardward because on my install, once in with the grill, it aint movin. AGAIN, use your own hardware, i take no responsibility if they fall off.

once you have the bumper off, you will see the foglight wiring, plug those into the foglights. do not use the wiring connectors it comes with(red and black wire with connectors), use the factory plugs. now for the inside switch. once you pull off the cover under the steering wheel you will see this conector by the wiring for the dimswitch.

the generic switch has 3 wires, the factory switch has 4 wires. the white wire is the wire that will turn on the foglights. the gray is a ground wire. the far right wire is the headlight wire, this will make the foglights come on with the headlights. i have it wired like this for now until i have time to tap into the parking light wire. i would wire the switch to the chassis ground separate from the switch. now when they are on, the foglght light on the dash will come on by the headlight light when turned on.

heres what they look like. the mesh grill was made by my brother from some stainless steel restaurant shelving i got from a buddy of mine.

NOW, for people wanting to know about the quality of this product LISTEN HERE.

i think the foglights themselves are good. except for the metal ring, i noticed that the light cutout on the foglights them self, one was off a bit so it made the bulb a little off center, no big deal tome.

no hardware included, i didnt use any, but you can also use the wire ties it comes with or buy some.

the switch broke apart on me. i put the wiring on and the damn thing fell apart. i have no switch, just hard wired for now. should be ok cause i know its fused and i can hear the relay click when i power the foglights. i might check into getting the factory switch, would be plug and play.

overall, im happy with them. i need to adjust them and get a new switch. is it worth the money? to me, yes. saved me over $200 from the dealer, that money payed for the ebay header coming this week and nst lite crank pulley im waiting on too.

any questions, please feel free to post up.

Thanks for the review. I think I'm gonna cough up the extra $100 and buy an OEM pair.

Those look very nice! I have yellow overlays from headlightarmor.com on my tC's fogs and they really seem to enhance visibility in actual fog. My GF just bought an `09 xB and had the fog lights installed by the dealer. Does anyone know where to find yellow protective overlays for the xB2 fogs? I'm too lazy to measure them and want thick vinyl (a'la headlightarmor.com or xpel.com), but so far no one has created them. Does someone have at least the measurements for ordering bulk film?

you can use this film:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/YELLO...spagenameZWDVW

not bad, i've used it before, just take your time and use a hair dryer to stretch the film so you dont get any wrinkles.

well i ordered the relay i need to have the fogs turn on with the parking lights, but this happened today

i stopped by to see a friend and he pointed it out to me. i didnt know it was broke because earlier, i was at my brothers changing my oil. not sure what im gonna do, im not gonna spend another $100 on fogs. i might take them out and put another mesh grill piece on. not sure if the factory fogs will hold up to rocks, but these ebay/aftermarket ones didnt.

well, after trying to wire up the fogs to light up with the parking lights, my youngest son found this on the passenger side foglight,,,,,

yup, now i have BOTH busted foglights. be warned about buying these on ebay. there goes $94 down the drain, first had to modify the foglights because a metal bracket broke on both lights, next the switch breaks apart when attaching the harness, then driver side cracks last week, and today the passenger side breaks and ive only had these foglights for about 3 weeks
