alright so i got the scuba replaced with an aero turbine exhaust and it sounds perfect! exactly how i wanted it. not ricey sounding and a little bit of tone all around with a lil bit of a roar between 1500 - 3000 rpms. pictures are coming shortly. as for a sound clip, someones gonna have to tell me how to do that. but still youre not gonna get the full effect anyway. its the 2525xl aero muffler. fit perfect.

Looks good, I actually decided to go w/ a full aero turbine setup very soon. Did you just get the resonator or did you also get the muffler? Can't wait for the sound clip I think you can just load on you tube and post the url on here for all to see.

That setup looks sweet! Is the scuba a cat? Is the aero a legal replacement?(I'm in Jersey) Is that a mini-cat that is part of the stock header? Sorry for so many questions, I'm really trying to learn quickly as I want to add a header and less restrictive piping to my TRD axle back. How much did that setup set you back?

from what ive learned the scuba is not a cat, but just a restrictive sound detoning unit, to make the car soundless. im not sure if the aero is a legal replacement but i dont see why it wouldnt be. im in jersey too, what part of jersey you in? my gas milage went up after putting this on and it does feel a bit more peppy, it revs out the gears much quicker i feel, but i also did just add a nonstoptuning underdrive crank pulley as well, so in conjunction they work great together. def do it, if you have a trd cat back and are looking for a low exhaust note thats not bad to deal with, this is def the way to go.

i got the whole cat back knock off system on ebay, i was thinking about getting another aero muffler for the rear piece too, but i didnt want it to be too loud. when yours is done id like to hear what that sounds like. im working on getting a vid camera to get a sound clip of mine up.

I'm in Toms River. Does your car have the stock exhaust up front still. Is the cat the lower part of the exhaust manifold? I do need to keep legal, although I hear people swap stuff back in to clear inspection. I'd prefer not to have the extra work. John

oh, toms river. i was down there last weekend. im up in bergen county, paramus to be exact. my header and s pipe are still stock. on our exhaust systems it goes from engine back....header, s pipe, scuba tank, mid pipe, and cat back (muffler) its 5 pieces, and i changed the rear 3. mainly with the scuba delete making the real only noticable difference in sound or performance. just changing out the cat back does do much. maybe give a quarter of a horsepower. you should pass all your tests and inspections by doing what ive done. not positive, but ill find out in a few years when i gotta go thru inspection. if you put a header on this car it makes it sound ricey, which is what i wasnt going for. hope this info helps....any other ?'s just ask

Thanks for the info..I don't want a ricey sound, that's why I listened to people opinions here and on club xb. I love the sound the car has now w/TRD axle back and intake. Performance and smiles are better now. I'm not at all disappointed with these adjustments as I kinda knew what I'd be getting. Your opinion on the header and aero are valuable and most appreciated. Ya know, when I was your age I was living on Farview Ave. in Paramus. (I slid south)

oh no ____, i live two streets off farview. lol. small world. if you have the trd axle back throwing in the aero in place of the scuba tank will make it a tiny bit louder, but in a good way and youll notice some better pick up on the bottom end. and that with an intake will sound sweet, i dont have an intake, just a drop in k&n, but i took off the stupid plastic sound dampers, so its a little more noisy. but id rather my car be a sleeper.

Are you sure? I've always thought, and been told the scuba IS a cat. That the 2nd gen has 2, one on the stock exaust manifold, and one in the scuba.

I've been wondering if I'd pass emmisions if I put a hiflow cat - aeroturbine replacement in for the stock scuba tank.

umm, not a 100% positive. you very well could be right. im almost positive you'll throw a code and wont pass if you do high flow cat, but hey, you live and learn right? try it out and pass the info on. thanks. when do you need to go for inspections? shouldnt be for a while no?

Not sure how many years we get in washington state. Mines an 08, and I didn't have to do emmisions this year. I was told the testing spots in my neck of the woods don't even check under the hood. They just hook you up to the computer, and if your not throwing codes you pass.
