I haven't had any trouble with rain on mine. The bottom is tightly closed with clamps and only opened on top of the two boxes, only leaving air to come in that way.

I really want to install this CAI on mine, but does 6hp gain come at expense of fuel economy? Currently, I'm getting over 30mpg between refills.
-If colder air equals more air mass, does it also equal more fuel consumption?

It depends. If you take it easy, you could THEORETICALLY get better miliage due to less restrictions. But if you get on it, yes, you will be dumping more air, so you will dump more fuel. But I doubt it will be anything significantly noticable.

I'm SOLD!
-I just finished ordering mine from TRD Sparks.

Not wanting to install myself, I stopped at local Scion dealer today to see what they had to offer. With all installed, they quoted a total "Pure Price" of $456 (349 parts, 107 labor). I will supply the part, and they will install for $107.

Gimme 2 vents and I'm sold! To me the vents are an absolute eyesore, non-functional vents, scoops, etc
Ok, the CAI is a nice side effect to the vent
I would love to get one for the right side as well...

The air inlet is located on top of the filter box. There are two seperate sides of the box, inlet and outlet, when clamped together there is an opening on top.

I talked to Paul from TRD the other day and he mentioned that they are not doing an open vent for the passenger side to match the one that comes in the kit.

So, if the inlet is not directly behind the side vent, does it really provide any function? or just cosmetic?

yeah that is lame. You'd think it was feeding air directly in. I wonder if this is to avoid any extra moisture/debris

I wonder if we can just by the one vent though. If I could get he vent and the AEM intake I would be all over it.

Anyone know how to get the vent part #?
