Default Auto trans, anyone else have a decent thud going into reverse+drive?

We're taking the car in tomorrow to have them check it out. Not sure what they can adjust but the car has always went from reverse to drive fairly hard. We always and sometimes to the extreme, make sure the car is stopped before putting in drive from reverse. It isn't always that the car is still cold and running a bit of a high idle. It can be warm after a 30 min drive also. I just don't like it hitting that hard into drive. I thought the converter would smooth it out?

Anyway just checking to see if many others were having this issue. The car has 30k on it, its an 09

If you're shifting from park to drive or reverse, that's the tension of the locking park pin being released, it does that if you don't use the parking brake or if you set the parking brake last. It can be remedied by first shifting into neutral, setting the parking brake firmly, then shifting into park. If it makes the thud from going between drive and reverse, then I'm unsure what it could be.

thanks for the reply, I have kept an eye on it a bit more. It bumps a little hard going from rev to drive. And my wife here's a wierd ping noise when going into reverse.

We always use the e-brake. weather hill, or flat, we make a habit.

Just make sure you set the ebrake while the car is in neutral, or it won't do any good.

I don't get any thuds from the trans, just clicks from the half shaft ends being shot. (don't get why since the car has never been lowered)
