Well I received the header yesterday. Upon inspection the flange seemed very flat. It looked machined. The rest of the header looked great. Install was fairly easy but, I forgot the donut at first. Lol. No leaks are detected. Problem is I think I might have too much flow now. I have a header, a resonator in place of scuba and the rest stock exhaust. Any ideas?

well for starters its very loud but i do not have any cats. and it feels less torquey through the rpm band. I dont know. I need to do something to quiet it down it is loud!

Rene, when you remove the scuba it's going to be LOUD! I put a high flow cat and small muffler in place of scuba and it's still loud. Working with resonator's inside the muffler to deaded some noise.

The scuba was removed prior to the header install. And the sound was great with the resonator in place. The part I am really worried about is possibly losing power? I mean maybe cause it's so loud it's changing my perception. I am either going to the custom muffler shop to have them check everything and see what they say or just put my old manifold back on I'm not sure. As far as the actual header goes I am I'm impressed with the fitment.

You probably lost backpressure from the cat being removed so you lost low end power.

Yeah I would consider adding a couple of resonators. Maybe something more restrictive than a resonator like small mufflers.

Yeah first I am going to the muffler shop and make sure I don't have any leaks. Then I will see about something like a muffler.

IMO the exhaust sounds great with the header, scuba and TRD axle-back. If there's any loss of torque, I haven't noticed any. Why not replace the scuba cat and get great sound while being a little more eco-friendly?

Thanks for all the responses, I had a turbo muffler put inplace of the resonator and it is great. BTW since it was my first header install i had them check that and he said it was good. So all is well and fairly quiet.

Cool. Was it difficult to bend the lower mounting brackets? Mine were way off but not too hard to correct.

no not bad at all. They were really close so I got the bolts on those brackets started first and then installed all of the other nuts and bolts. However i am going to do it all again on saturday because i am going to put that gasket on that you recommended. I ordered it yesterday.

It also seems like since you purchased yours they have improved the quality a bit. When i take it off on sat i will take some pics.

I wouldn't replace the oem gasket unless it's leaking. The oem MLS is very good and reuseable. The one I suggested is a single use crush type but it should work better with not-so-flat surfaces.

I'm glad to hear that Kevin followed through on improving the header quality. CXR might sell more headers if they change the photos on their website. The header they show looks even worse than mine.

I ordered the gasket on ebay that you mentioned. It looked exactly the same as the one sent by Cxracing. They looked identical except for the shape. I used the CXRacing one because the one from ebay was all bent and mushy. So i guess they started supplying good gaskets too.

I dunno what CXR ships from day to day. They don't seem very consistent. Below is a photo of the mani gasket CXR shipped me (top) and the gasket that came with my Ebay 'Treadstone' mani (bottom). The CXR reinforced graphite/paper gasket is the kind that typically blows out very quickly.

My 304 angled CEL eliminator is working well but I can't find it anymore. The closest thing I can find now is the W-R piece for $20 more.

yeah the one on the bottom looks just like the one cxr sent me their shape matched their header though. Pretty cool that they are kicking it up a notch. Very happy with my header and my mileage went up!

Sorry for suggesting that you not use the CXR gasket. I assumed that they sent you the same one they sent me. I'm glad you like the header and that CXR is stepping up the quality. Now if only they would include a decent manifold with their turbo kit...

dont be sorry. I am glad they are making their header a a better deal. And yea the turbo manifold doesent look like much but i guess i dont know what a good design would be for turbo. BTW the company that sent the gasket to me is sending me another because it arrived all bent up so if anyone needs a gasket let me know.
