Default Ebay CAI

Hey everybody, just picked up a CAI intake from ebay. Fitment was pretty spot on, the only thing I really need to change is the filter itself. Gonna be picking up a K&N filter when I get the chance.

You should just get a AEM Dryflow intake because they don't have to be oiled meaning they are easier to clean and that way you won't have to buy another one again.

k&N's are made to last a lifetime, just clean and oil it.

good choice, its all the same crap, why pay $100+ for name brand when all the piping is the same?

you did the right thing, just buy a brand name filter and throw it on there.

I don't really see how the a/f ratio would be out of whack. All the air being "inhaled" by the engine is being register by the mas and I'm pretty sure the ECU can adjust itself for the increased volume of airflow.

Yup, I've had name brand and ebay intakes on my previous cars and to be honest the only thing that I've noticed is a difference in sound. Some intakes have been louder but that's about it. Just need to head down to autozone to pick up a K&N filter to make sure the air is getting filtered properly & stop by the toyota dealership to pick up the toyota cai grill.

Had an ebay CAI on my tC with 75 shot of nitrous. The $60 intake worked and sounded awesome!

As long as the intake is 3" OD you're correct and your AFR should be fine. If the intake is smaller or larger it will alter the MAS voltage signal and the ECU's MAF measurement. The ECU will compensate for any MAF deviation in closed loop because it relies primarily on AFR feedback from the primary O2 sensor. In open loop a smaller or larger intake pipe will alter the AFR.

usually what your payin for with name brand intakes is r&d, dyno testing & 50 state carb certification. other than that they are all pretty much the same thing. until i see a dyno sheet showing a significant drop in hp/tq using a ebay intake i wont believe they are a waste of money.

Going the same route too, ordered eBay CAI and K&N Filter. Did you order the TRD inlet vent online?

I'm just going to use the filter it comes with for now, in a few months when i have some more extra chedda I'll buy either an injen or aem filter.

I ordered the part at my local dealer, it was $6 and some change with tax took 2 days I picked it up after work today. I found it for $3 online but the shipping was $5.

The ups order was created today so hopefully by tomorrow it ships, they are also in Cali so it should only be 1 day for shipping.

Sweet deal. Any chance you can post up the link for the $3 piece? Google wasn't being friendly while I was searching for it.

No problem

Toyota Parts Source
Search part number: PTR0352084
$3.53+ tax & shipping

I also received the intake today, snapped a few pics after opening it. I will upload them tonight. I highly recommend cleaning and possibly deburring the intake when received. Ill go into detail in my next post.

Crappy bends in this corner, not smooth at all. All the other bends seemed to be good.

Filter with flash so you can see the color of it.

I purchased mine from edixworks you can get it from 49.99-62.99 depending on if you get it painted or not. I didnt because 1 its cheaper and 2 if I want it painted Ill get it done at a later time.

Thanks for the link! Wow, mine got delivered yesterday, didn't have a chance to open it yet. I'll have to check it tonight. I picked up the K&N RU-3570 off Amazon for like $32.
