I double-checked and the front s-pipe is double-walled but still 2.25" ID in and 2" ID out. The scuba tank is 2.25" ID in and 1.8" ID out, the mid-pipe is 1.8" ID in/out and the axle-back is 2" ID in tapering immediately to 1.8" ID. The TRD axle-back is 2.5" ID.

Yeah, I understand the progression from larger to smaller diameter to keep exhaust gas velocity up but the 1.8" to 2.0" to 1.8" transition at the axle-back confuses me. Even more when you add the 2.5" TRD axle-back to that 1.8" mid-pipe. I suppose that small dia exhaust piping acts similarly to a baffled muffler in terms of noise reduction and the TRD AB reduces back-pressure a little and adds a bit more sound.

Anyway, I hope there's enough interest to get this going. If you need a test mule, let me know. My exhaust is still a little loud for my taste and after you adjusted the front clearances, now it's hitting somewhere in back. Probably on the rear axle beam where CXR's fitment was also off.

Yeah, I'll be bringing it to you soon. I really should have stuck to my original plan for a custom 2.5" but just had to try the CXR 3" because I found what seemed to be a great deal on a used system. If it wasn't too big, too loud and fit so poorly, it would have been a great deal.

Just so you know, I'm definitely interested in buying a scubatank replacement section, so please try to do it if you can. Hopefully with the largest oval muffler you can find and with 2.5 inch diameter in/out

Thats not bad.

1) Wonder how loud the car would be?

2) Would a normal shop replace the scuba since its a car?

AFAIK, that aero exhaust is round anyways.

This part sounds like quality to me, and it seems to meet your standards as well, although I could be wrong:
"The 2525XL is completely stainless steel inside and out. A built in Resonator before our patented Air Foil is packed with high temperature ceramic packing. The hand-polished stainless steel 2525XL will give you the look and feel that you want and the performance you deserve. The Aero Exhaust Lifetime Warranty will guarantee that your investment is still performing as long as you own your vehicle."

And yes it's round (6" diameter), but at 26" long it would seem to have plenty of volume. Maybe combined with a quality axle-back it would give the desired tone. At $173 (best price I've found) it doesn't seem like a ridiculous price to replace the factory scuba tank. I'm sure a full custom exhaust could be had for cheaper than this, a new mid-pipe and axle-back, but I thought this might make an excellent starting point for a more mass produced scuba replacement piece. Just trying to think outside the box.

Will a muffler shop replace the scuba without resistance?

It's not a bad choice, but on the cars I've seen with it (various cars, not scions though) it wasn't really too great with actually making things quieter compared to typical stuff like borla/magnaflow ovals, and either option is cheaper (easily under 170 bucks even for a big oval one). The advantage to the aero muffler is the fact that it is lighter than most options because it doesn't really use packing as it's way of muffling. It mimics the design concept of gun suppressors (or "silencers")

Just like tattoos... Good work ain't cheap, cheap work ain't good.

lol.....you seem to like this kit and kaboodle phrase.

I'm on board for something like a high flow cat, but not make it really loud. I've got the Tanabe on now, and since it's broken in a little it is a little louder, but it could use a slight increase.

i would want a fully stock car. Any exhaust modifications could possibly cause things to not fit other peoples cars
