Default M2 Axleback Exhaust

Want your fitment opinion

Wondering if all the XB2 axle backs are the same. Looking for a cheap exhaust & been looking at this M2 axle back. Most sites say its for years 08-10. I have 2012 & just want to make sure it would fit

Thanks, Joe

I wouldn't buy it because it's probably constructed out of mediocre materials.

It very well could fit, I'm not sure and I doubt many people have tried.

Be a guinea pig and give it a whirl.

I ordered it.

Searching this design, looks like a copy of the Tanabe axle back as noted here:

It really does. There's also a TRD replica that is sold on eBay. A friend of mine purchased and installed it on her xB2. It was great for about a year, then the muffler started rattling internally.

Install was simple. No interference's anywhere. I have Curt hitch as well w/ no contact
The exhaust flange is thick, measures .368. Came w/gasket & fasteners. Welds look OK, nothing weird. SST finish is very clean w/ no dents or other issues.
Sound is super quiet. Was hoping for more of a note (almost stock) From what Ive read, the scuba has to be replaced for more of a performance sound

Lastly a quick pick of my track day car.

All and all very pleased w/this M2 exhaust ($160.00 shipped)

Honestly, it is almost unnoticeable. The only way to get some real tone is to remove the scuba from what Ive read. Maybe the Borla single pipe (no resonator) would produce more of an exhaust note

BTW: The Lancer badge stays. The XB is my support vehicle for the EVO

M2 Axleback Exhaust-exhaust.jpg
After reading MinusPrevious's review I bought one. Just put it on today. Perfect fitment, bolted right up. Only problem was the old bolts would not budge for me so I took it and had them cut off. $20 bucks well spent, plus the weather is cold here anyway.

So far I noticed tone is slightly deeper. Looks good and no drone. I am very happy with it, especially for $159 shipped. I have one sloppy weld near the tip, but it's not visible and the weld is solid.
