If I would get a set of headers, what does it take to install and get rid of the check engine light on our car? With the CEL eliminator on the car, is it difficult to wire and stay off? Last time I did this on OB2 I had lots of problems. Would this eliminator work without a hitch or is there something to know?

 

I have the Strup Ceramic Coated header and the Strup CEL Elminator (the one that has the 90 degree bend). Been on the car for about 1000 or so miles and no CEL (knock on wood). Header is a pretty straight forward install, you will need to remove the s-pipe to get the CEL elminator in there. Other than that make sure you use anti seize on the threads of bolts and stuff

 

How hard is it to wire up?

 

Theres no wiring involved. The CEL eliminator is just a metal pipe with a 90 degree bend in it.

I've recently installed my own Strup Header (stainless steel, but I repainted it and polished it) and am tired of the lights. So what you're saying is that there's a connection spot for the eliminator in the s-pipe? Is that where the bottom of the header bolts on to the pipes beneath the car?

When I was working in that area, I did not really see anything for a 90-degree pipe to bolt onto, but then again, I wasn't really focusing on a CEL eliminator. I guess it slipped my mind when installing it because I was too excited after painting it.

 

ive had the strup header for 35000 miles and no lights

the cel eliminator is a plug and play 90 right on the s-pipe under the car

simply remove the second 02 sensor, screw the 90 in and then screw in the original 02 and replug the connector

Okay, cool deal. One person above was saying we "need to remove the s-pipe to get the CEL elminator in there." So you're saying that the O2 sensor is on the s-pipe itself?

Just want to be sure that I have all my facts straight.

 

First. Header will take some time. ramps will help. and PB BLASTER. for the elim i got the ebay 90 degree angled one. no problems what so ever. you don't have to take the s pipe of if your car is off the ground enough (aka ramps) you just have to unbolst the s pipe from the header. slide back to the 02 sensor that is attached to the s pipe. disconnect it. screw on the elimnator and then the o2 sensor into it. re bolt the spipe to the header. and all set!!

Well I had time to slide under the xB when I was installing my TRD Cold-Air Intake today.

Finding the O2 sensor was easy. I didn't remove the S-pipe at all in order to put the eliminator on it.

After doing that, no more CEL. Thanks guys!
