Default Synchronized transmission issues

I have a 2008 xb has 153k plus miles and I am having clutch or transmission problems. When I downshift into 3rd gear it grinds. I made an appointment at Scion dealer. The tech mentioned it could be the synchronized transmission. What could it cost the fix it?

It's the shifting synchronizers. They help to make sure that the gears are all spinning about the same speed to make shifts smoother. They eventually wear and hard shifting will speed it up. You might want to consider throwing in a clutch kit while the transmission is out...and shift slowly until you get it repaired because you WILL damage gear teeth and that will ad more $$$$$$ A good local tranny shop may save you loads of money. Synchros only maybe $800-$900 installed? An inexpensive OEM style clutch kit, another $250 plus a few more bucks to turn down your flywheel, if needed. Just my guess.
