Default Anyone try 12 LED map wedge replacements?

Searching hasn't got me anywhere, so I'm hoping someone has experience with this.

I tried replacing the 8W miniature wedge map bulbs with 6 LED wedges and I've definitely lost illumination brightness. I'm thinking about the 12 LED version, but at a listed 1.2" length, they're a little longer than either the OE tungsten or the 6 LED replacement.

Has anyone tried the 12 LED version? Does the additional length interfere with the lens operated map light switch?

I'm pretty sure the 12 LED wedge would solve the brightness problem (if it fits), but if it doesn't fit -- has anyone tried a 1W LED wedge? I'm sure it'll fit, but does it provide as much brightness or more as the 12 LED version?

Please don't respond with guesses -- they just result in spinning wheels and wasting money. I'm looking for good information on this.

Thanks -- Trevor

i do have led panels in all my interior light locations, including a 48led panel in the center light...it was super bright at first, but since it came from china, they started dying out in a few months, i think theres about twelve that still work, as for the map lights i have 12 led panels in there, they fit fine and are very bright, i recommend them

That's exactly the replacement I have in mind, but 3 map lights? I'm only aware of two in the xB2 - am I overlooking one, or are you talking about a different car?

I think he might've included the dome light in his statement?

Wow, all those LEDs failed? Are they the type 5050 High Power or a more standard version? Either way, that's pretty awful !

I just installed a pair of six 5050 LED panels in my dome and a single of the same in the cargo lamp -- unfortunately, the rear is actually a bit too bright in the vicinity of the lamp.

yea, but when they were all on it was too bright but once about ten or so burnt out it was nice, but now its starting to get dark in there, im not too worried about it, i only spent like 9 bucks on it, it was more or less a test run to see if i wanted led's in there at all, and now that i know i like it, im gonna get a good board from superbrightleds.com cuz they look like quality and have a warranty....i think. if not i can call them up and complain. the guy in china could be dead for all i know.

Great, so apparently, those 12 LED wedges don't hit when you operate the map light switches. Fantastic and thanks, I'll order a pair.

FWIW -- I got three of these panels, and then wired two in parallel for the dome. Course, I've no idea how long they'll last, I'm just hoping they live up to the advertisements "long life" description.

The 12 LED wedges arrived today and they had me going for a moment since they're too wide to be installed from the rear of the map light assembly. It's necessary to disconnect the harness plug from the assembly and then from the back, carefully push the lens pivots free of their axes. Then the bulbs can be installed and the lenses over them. Perfect, and definitely no clearance issues .

Glad you like the 12 LED map lights (natural white) !

Since you're also talking about the dome, here's how my dual 6 SMD5050 PCB panels worked out. I'm using a 2 SMD5050 festoon in the cargo light. (All cool white.)

You can try out my dome light..
It's same as Oznium, but cheaper price..

Easy installation, and super bright light output..
