Default Factory Radio USB Connector On Back

Does anyone know if on the factory Pioneer Head Unit, if that USB looking connection is a standard USB connection. I want to get aftermarket unit with USB on rear so that I can connect it to the existing USB cable that runs to the console. Has anyone done this?

Like someone suggested just run a USB cable to your storage compartment off the new headunit.

I love my 2011 having it in the bottom of the console (under the panel) out of the way, so I really don't want to do the "glovebox" thing. I have a 32gb stick drive that I just leave in there and never remove. So my entire music library is there for the taking. I am sure I will just cut the proprietary connector and solder in a real USB connector. Or maybe find an adapter?? I am sure it won't be too bad to solder one in. I noticed a lot of the new aftermarket units have SD card slots, so I may just bite on one of those. The future for audio is storage cards for music and a good unit interface to access them. I don't care for the IPOD controller connections. In fact, my cell phone has 32 gb card with all my music, so I don't even need a IPOD. IPODs, GPS units are going to be a thing of the past since most smart phones can do all of this and more. I think I am straying from the original intent of this post, but oh well. I appreciate the feedback on the factory connector.
