Phased Audio Install for my XB
Hi everyone,
Just joined the boards and wanted to show off my 2008 XB I picked up earlier this month for a DD. Im going to be doing some minor modifications but wanted a major overhaul on the Audio since I drive a couple hours to and from work everyday. I just completed Phase I which consisted of:
- Clarion VX400 w/ Ipod video adapter
- Clarion NP400
- DVD Bypass
- External Mic
- Metra Radio Plates
- PAC Steering Wheel Controls
- JL StealthBox (12w3v2) ~Backordered :-(
- JL JX500/1 w/ RBC-01
- StreetWires 4Ga Kit
Wanted to make everything pretty stealth so the power wire is concealed in the engine bay and nothing visible inside the car other than the sealthbox. Im sure people on here have done similar installs but here is my build up so far:
So far so good. Im using a old MTX 10" untill my Stealthbox is here but its sounds decent. This week is phase II:
- JL JX 360/4 4-Channel
- MB Quart DKH116
- MB Quart DSH216
- 6.5 PVC Adapters (F and R)
- PVC Tweeter Adapters
- Factory Plug to wire adapters (no splicing to stock harnesses)
- Movement of NP400 for 4-channel stealth install

- Float the AlumaPro so its flush with the bars but doesnt protrude above the bars. The AlumaPro has 2x Pos 2x Neg 4ga outputs for the Amps. It also requires RMA so I would use that for RMA distribution as well
- Float the NP400 beside the AlumaPro
- Mount JX360/4 where the NP400 was (This will require cutting the plastic since its 2" longer than the JX500/1)

Why ditch? Its an added safety measure, load reducer, and distributer for the the amps. I got a sweet deal from someone who upgraded to a C.A.P. 50 and needed the cash asap.
In regards to the amps Ive used the JL Slash series and loved them. Decided to go JX since im not looking to compete but wanted solid sound. Once I get the Stealthbox (Which to my suprise was shipped today ) and the JX360/4 I will start dialing in the amps correctly (voltimeter outputs and such). So far the JX500/1 with the junk MTX 10" I had lying around sounds incredible with zero dial-ins on the amp (Exception being BassBoost set to half load so I dont blow the sub). Will let you know after I work it this weekend.

Didnt think I would get such a huge stink over a CAP option :? . Agreed that 15 is way over kill but I couldnt pass up the deal for a AlumaPro under $100.00

gotta admit that's a good deal, but for less than that you could have bought another battery. caps are snake oil imo. but hey, it's your car and your system. get er done and enjoy it.

Wasnt that bad, MB Quart Discus speakers a great in terms of price and you get near reference level quality. Its actually sad that they discontinued most the Discus line. The bulk of the money was the StealthBox but it was well worth it, JL builds with quality and precision.

Depends on the the unit, AVIC series of Pioneer I believe you can use the Mic in conjunction with another connection for the bypass to function. With others its requires some kind of relay (typically a bosch 5 pin for $5.00) to trick the unit. I ended up shelling out $19.00 for the processor version which does the same as the relay
