I know CF stands behind their stuff, but for example, the Eclipse XA5000 can be had for $325 shipped on ebay, $550 at CF. $190 for both the Polk db6501 and db651 sets on ebay. Now, due to that special, the sets would be $250 from CF, not bad, but still a small savings that can be used elsewhere (like sound deadening).
I'm usually a proponent of CF and not of ebay, but I'm penny pinching a bit this time, too many expenses lately and I also want to take the family on a vacation in March.

I was planning on getting the DVD headrests after the fact, save myself a couple hundred. How do you like them? Or rather, how does your daughter like them? lol I think my 5 yr old son would love them.
They don't play backed up DVD's well? That would suck, I have a lot of those and prefer them to taking the originals out, they always seem to get damaged. :-/

D perhaps you can use your machine and configure it to use the VM in the DMZ as its next hop, like a proxy, then straight shot out! Sounds like you just poked a few holes in your FW, set a static IP, some static routes perhaps a NAT and didn't join it to the domain so no GPO's take effect. Nananabooboo I know those tricks too! lmao

Actually, I have a business DSL line that demarcs in our lab. I hooked it up to an older 48 port Cisco switch, and basically share that line with some of the cooler NT and Network folks. Aside from our production network, we also have a staging and lab network as well. The business DSL line is none of them. This is our own separate network that only a few of us know about... On a side note, our NT folks have been adding virtual servers like crazy over the past 2 years, but I mainly deal with on the network side... Looks like we got a lot in common... haha... no wonder our tastes seem so similar at times.... lol.

Default Looks good overall but a couple minor things

Uber,
Looks good - just a few suggestions/points:

1. Get a cap, period. 1 farad is fine - this 5/10/40 is insane, and potentially fatal if someone bridges the cap (IE stupid service guy)...or did they make caps start discharging when they lose power now? My old one kept itself charged, but it was a good 4-5 years old.

2. I'd agree on upgrading to the momo's from Polk.

3. I would strongly recommend keeping your mono amp and your 4-channel amps separate. I've killed so many 4-channels in my life it's not even funny (including 2 JL 300/4 amps) - they're much more fluky, and combo 4 + 1 amps you usually lose quality or set yourself up for more overall pain/headaches. I've never used Eclipse myself, but I've heard good things - but i'm still wary of 4+1s. You don't need amp racks/etc for just 2 amps - you've got 2 seats.

4. The avic-d3 is cumbersome IMHO w/ the dvd-based nav. I had dvd-based in my '05 Magnum, and it had a separate slot for the NAV and music discs, and it was still slow to calculate/remap/boot/etc. If you can swing it, I highly recommend the MAX675VDII + nav. It's a much better interface for your ipod, and the nav is hard-drive based and just insane. It /is/ about 2x the price, but hey - you get what you pay for.

UPS and FedEx have done some work...

The packages from SonicElectronix, WoofersEtc, Crutchfield and Eclipse were all VERY well packaged and protected. Cartronixplus was ok, I thought they should have protected it better, considering it's a D3 in there. The box with deadening from eD was bottomed out and not packaged well. Sorry guys, I love eD, but the packaging was horrible. :-/ By contrast the 13Kv.3 was packaged perfectly.

Looks good Uber... I haven't been on here in awhile, but am looking forward to your future updates. It's always nice getting presents from the UPS man, but you still got a lot of work ahead of you. Just make sure you take your time and do it right.

I am sure you seen this link already, but I really like how Bing installed these speakers in the doors. I like how he used the wood baffles, deaden the doors, and topped it off with some ensolite. Good luck to you...

crutchfield is fantastic. i always recommend them. you could spend less elsewhere, but the service and instructions and brackets you get at crutchfield are top of the line and really save time.

The work begins soon. I'm going to do the sound deadening first, that should keep me busy while I wait on Metra parts I'm missing and the sub enclosure to come in.

For sound deadening I'm doing the following:

eDead v1² – 50 sq. ft. for floor, quarter panels, gate. Mostly rear of vehicle.

eDead v1SE² – doors. 2 layers 6’. Estimate: 48 sq. ft.

eDead V4 - 24 sq. ft. total. 6’ per door 1’ behind each speaker.

The V4 is equivalent to Ensolite, reduces road noise, great on top of other sound deadening.

I'm giving the doors lots of attention and the rear of the vehicle where the sub is. With only 50W RMS pushing the comps and rears I need sound deadening badly. the sub will get 450W RMS, hopefully that'll fill in the low end nicely.

They have great customer service and with the deals they had running on Polks recently (second set half off) and financing available (6 months no interest) I couldn't say no. I would have saved $60 or so buying from ebay but no financing and no warranty. It was worth the $60 to me. They are overpriced though, I bought my PAC SWI-PS from them for $70, on ebay it can be had for $50 shipped.

Did you cut the plastic out of the doors when you did your deading? I left mine in to see how it sound, i just put 3 layers on in the middle, and 2 inside the hole as much as i could.

Haven't done it yet, planned for Sat the 26th.
You mean the vapor barrier? I've always seen it removed.

I guess thats what its called. My father(who sells toya/scion cars) was standing next to me as i started to cut the plastic away and he was like oh dont do that, that will keep the moisture out of the door panels.

so i listened to him lol

sound deadening the doors is a pain, but totally worth it. it took me a few hours, but i also installed some infinity components and the difference is insane. plus the door sounds solid when you close it.

Just a heads up folks, NEVER order anything from audiooutfitters. http://www.audiooutfitter.com
I ordered the Metra wiring harness and dash kit from them that we need 70-1761 and 95-8202 (hope that helps someone) and they showed on the site it was in stock and would ship in 2 days. That was on the 8th. I have yet to receive anything and only after I called them did I get "your items are on backorder". >

I think the logic behind it is if the plastic peels or falls off for any reason it takes the deadening with it, not a very permanent surface to apply deadening on. Also, you want to keep the metal from vibrating, it's going to do the most good absorbing resonance from metal, much more so than a plastic sheet.

How do they sound? Which models? Powering them with what?
And yes, sound deadened doors do have a nice heft and satisfying thud to them when closing them

Forgot to mention, I looked into Infinity 2Ohm comp sets, but I was told they weren't very good and it makes the amp work much harder running at 2Ohm rather than 4. I'm still going to run my amps 5th channel at 2ohm though, hope it lasts.

Yes, this one:
http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...roducts_id=655

Sub:
http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=31

It's the black one with D4 coils for a 2ohm load, that way my little Eclipse can give it 450W RMS instead of 300W at 4ohm.

I think this should do nicely for what you want it to do!

I've never personally heard the Polks or the eD subwoofer. But I'm sure it'll do what you want!
