What would it cost, and would it be worth-while?

What would it cost, and would it be worth-while?
Hey guys,
I have the stock unit in my xB and really don't have too much of a problem with the stock audio. However, at some times I wish I could have a bit more "punch" and better midrange. If I were to replace the front two speakers in each door, could I do this fairly cheaply and not have to buy additional amps, etc.. Also, would the sound improve that much putting in fairly high-end, all purpose speakers?
What speakers would you guys suggest for this? I want a full sound and speakers that will replace the stock speaker fairly easily.
Just looking for ideas now and general research so appreciate your opinions!

it's not a good idea to change out 2 front speakers and not do the rears as well, they will sound different, and mess up your sound stages... (it's not horrible to do, but each speaker responds better to certain freqs and you may make your sound issue worse and not get the result you want). To me, its like mixing mountain dew and sprite... will most people taste a difference? Some will, some wont, some will like the mix better, some will hate it... depends on how much of an audiophile you are...
i would say either get a better headunit, and "possibly" get a little better sound, or go ahead and get all new speakers and amplify them..
if it is a budget concearn, make sure you get a head unit you can return for full credit, because if you spend $ on the headunit and you dont like the way that sounds, you can return it, and save $ for better speakers and an amp..
