Another toyota recall
#2
Yep looks like it, but it seems to be quite a trivial recall - unless yours caught fire
Text from NHTSA website........................
Make: TOYOTA Model: SCION XB
Model Year: 2009
Manufacturer: Toyota Motor North America, Inc. Report Receipt Date: OCT 10, 2012
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 12V491000 N/A
NHTSA Action Number: N/A
Component: VISIBILITYOWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS
<-- Funny unintended icon
Summary:
Toyota is recalling certain model year 2007-2009 Camry, Camry Hybrid, RAV4, Corolla, Corolla Matrix, Tundra, Sequoia, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Yaris, Scion xB, Scion xD and Pontiac Vibe vehicles. The power window master switch assemblies in some of these vehicles were built using a less precise process for lubricating the internal components of the switch assemblies. Irregularities in this lubrication process may cause the power window master switch assemblies to malfunction and overheat.
Consequence:
If the switch overheats, it may melt, possibly resulting in a fire.
Remedy:
Toyota will notify its owners, and dealers will inspect the switch and apply a special grease that inhibits heat build up or replace any switch damaged by the defect, free of charge. Toyota owners that experience a problem with a switch should not attempt to make repairs, but should contact their Toyota dealer or the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-800-331-4331. General Motors will contact the Pontiac Vibe owners affected by this recall and GM dealers will inspect and repair switches as necessary. Those owners may contact Pontiac Customer Care at 1-800-762-2737.
Notes:
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

According to Toyota's website, the recall affects the following Scion Models:
• 2008 to 2009 Scion xD (approx. 34,400)
• 2008 to 2009 Scion xB (approx. 77,500)
The article lists the various Toyota models but I only listed the Scions !

Sorry about the Corolla - anything to do with the steering? I saw those complaints when doing a car search for my daughter. Ended up getting a fiesta and it's working so far.

Glad this post did come up as I had my sister check at the Toyota dealer on my XB and it needs both recalls done and my nieces needs the master control panel. They have ordered whatever necessary and plan on taking mine in next week.

No steering issues, we had a no start issue occasionally, they replaced the ECM last year and we did not drive it much since she walked to work. Now we live about 20 min from both of our jobs and she has had the issue multiple times since we started driving it more. Toyota has yet to return any of my calls, the service managers are always "busy" and I have been swamped at work and school fulltime, plus my daughter and impending birth of my other daughter any day I have not had time to talk to anyone in person.
Since the weather has cooled (we live in the socal desert) we have not had the problem. So who knows. I am planning on selling it this spring and getting her a crossover/midsize suv for the kids. I have never liked her car. When we first started dating I preferred to drive my 92 accord over her new-ish corolla. That thing seems like a dog now too ever since the ECM swapped, it was always slow but now its even worse.

So I got the recall done on my xB and the dealer broke the door handle plastic thing while fixing it up... and they'll need to order it as it is not an in stock item. Are interior parts coming from Japan? It has been a couple of days and they still haven't gotten it...
