No solution other than custom, requiring rewiring.

Haven't tried that bulb, but I did buy these:

http://www.amazon.com/PIAA-19225-Spe.../dp/B0002MAHL8

They are 27watt, instead of 21watt, and still didn't throw off any more light than the stock bulb... brighter and whiter to look directly at - yes; more visibility for backing up - NO.

My guess is that Raybrig bulb would have the same results.

If you read the first 3-4 pages of this thread, you can see and read all about the light output of LED's, it's already been tried a couple of times with a number of different bulbs.

Well People.. I stumbled across this............

http://<br /> https://www.scionlife...wiring+diagram

It details a ''HOW TO'' re-wire your LED tails so that the "BRAKE LIGHT" section ALSO functions as the "TURN SIGNAL" function.. So the brake light section will light up when the brakes are applied & EITHER side will flash when the turn-sigs are applied.. ALL in the same SECTION of the light assembly....

You know what that does??
That frees-up the TURN SIGNAL SCETION to do what ever you like...

In this case... HE swapped out the amber incandecents for WHITE bulbs in the TURN SIGAL 'section'...THEN wired the old 'tun-sig section' to his REVERSE lights....

NOW in this case this was an xB1.... & he now has 4 reverse light bulbs burning when he puts it into reverse.. (check out the videos!!!)......
in OUR case,(provided that you have aftermarkert or SCION LED TAILS)
You would end up with 3 reverse lights....
1) your existing single in the bumper &
2) & 3), your new reverse lights where your turn signal once were...
WHILE still maintaing your turn-signals, only re-located......

Pretty freegin Slick...........

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...wiring+diagram

Now..anyone living close to St Louis wanna help me do mine?? I'll be the guinia pig for this project, but I wont do it alone.. I want help....

Also see if there is a halogen-type bulb offered. Used to be an outfit which offered halogen light bulbs for back up applications. Can't recall co.'s name; try Googling around...

This + Rumion Tails + LED bulbs + HID in the stock reverse light = God mooning the earth when you put it into reverse

(I still say shave the reverse light though =D)

I still like my idea here on page 10...

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...asc&&start=180

& it's less than 20 bucks with NO re=wiring or bulb replacement.

Maybe something is wrong with my vision, but between the oem reverse and brake lights, I see enough through my side mirrors to back up.

My solution was when I get my hitch, install the light they sell for it at some off road stores that has dual 55 watt lights.

I tried a different LED bulb recently. I got a pair of the 48 SMT LED bulbs from v-leds (http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481). They work much better than the bulb I tried a year ago (at the beginning of this thread). Unfortunately they are not as bright as a regular 7440, but almost close enough. I like the way it looks so I have it in my backup light at the moment. I also tested them in the turn signal and brake lights. I only have a picture of it used as a turn signal and you can see the output is pretty good.

as a backup light

as a parking light

as a turn signal/hazard

Anyway. If anybody wants to try one but doesn't want to buy a pair then PM me and I can sell one of mine.

I also found this. It's a 27 watt like mentioned earlier in this thread, but only $7.

I bought a clearanced bulb from advance auto for 50 cents, its a 7440 socket with 55 watt halogen h3 bulb. I cant find it anywhere online, but did find this mod. you hack a fog light bulb, bend the tabs and insert it into the reverse light socket. http://www.skidmore.edu/~pdwyer/e/backup_bulbs.htm

Seems piaa sells brighter 7440 bulbs, but they are tinted blue.
