I picked some sockets up at a Checker once for my fullsize chevy. Worked great for what I was doing.

I was thinking more along the lines of headlights to be extra bright!

If headlight sockets can be made to fit, that would be much better still! Even a single 55W low beam would be a huge improvement and brighter than most car's BU lites.

Ok Don't laugh,

There are several snow blowers/garden tractors/atv's on the market with sealed 4" diameter headlights. A mount would have to be fabricated ,but should work. I have lights on my garden tractor that are almost as good as auto lights, but mine are rectangle. I have no problem, but the wife wants brighter BU lights. I am thinking high powered LEDs,but the highest wattage I can find is 5 watts, less then the bulb.

These look pretty good because there ar 18 forward-firing LEDs in addition to a few radially firing LEDs. Who wants to be the guinea pig? Actually I might try it and I'll post the results if I do.

---EDIT---

OK I just ordered a pair. I'll let you guys know how they work as back up lights. If they suck I'll try them out as brake lights.

If I decide to use one as a back up light, I'll sell the other one for 50% of what I paid so that you wont' have to buy 2 of them. Stay tuned...

I'm trying the 24 LED refractor. http://frickinbrite.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=28_66

I have this headlight for my bike. It only has 5 LEDs and is freakin' bright with only 6V going to it! Of course this was designed as an LED headlight from the ground up so I'm not banking on having spectacular results with the 24 LED light in the xB. But I'll hope for the best.

This is true...

I'm really curious how the refractor led light turns out. I'd looooove to run an HID reverse light. It would be dumb, but rad nonetheless.

That would look cool because HIDs have that little flicker thing they do when you first turn them on. I know I get mesmerized for a few seconds when I turn on my HIDs. But by the time the light gets warmed up you might have already backed up.

A single fog light could be mounted in the stock location. I'd only do it if it looked good though.

I'm hoping the LEDs I ordered work well.

Autolumination also has a bunch of different 7440 mount LED bulbs; and you can buy them individually. Just found the site late last night, so I haven't ordered anything yet.

whoa these bulbs are loaded!

I would have tried these first if I knew about them. I wonder how much money I'm going to spend before I get it right?

It's a toss-up between those, and the SMT Tower II, which they say is "The most powerful 7443 LED bulbs made" if you can believe there own hype. I still think I'm going to try the 36 LED you posted the pic of since it looks like all those bulbs would work well with the reflector inside the housing. I'll order in a minute, and post my feedback when it arrives.

I can't wait to find out if these LEDs are any improvement over the 21W 7440. It would be great to simply plug in a LED replacement that uses so little power, generates almost no heat and lasts much longer.

Thanks to the guinea pigs.

I've already ordered from Autolumination; but I also tried to look at LEDmod.com after your post... can't find s**t on their website! I hate companies that don't make it easy to navigate.
