Perhaps I should have had my harness replaced while still in warranty but it never exhibited any of the symptoms for the TSB so it might have been a hard sell without "cheating" one or more of the TSB CEL codes. I hope I never need to replace the harness out of warranty! I'm over 40k now, 20k NA and 20k boosted, original coil packs.

I do wonder if the suspect harness might have had something to do with all the electrical issues I had with the FIC and X1. Both EMUs have 6' long harnesses and extra connectors that add resistance to many ECU circuits. Perhaps the suspect oem harness is near the limit already and adding extra resistance caused certain sensor circuits to go out of range. Seems quite possible. I'd love to know what Toyota changed but I'll probably never get that top-secret info.

Yeah, it's a real pain manufacturers don't share the problem and correction details when making a production change. Of course, given the way the public behaves, anything they say would turn into freak-out city. Last winter's senate testimony is adequate proof of that. It's pretty much guaranteed any idiot that can formulate a potential criticism will get his fifteen minutes of fame -- it matters not whether there's any justification to the criticism.

Sadly that is too true. I remember when Audi was crucified because of unitended acceleration incidents with the 5000 series that were caused by driver error and slightly unusual pedal placement.
