Default Catalytic Converter

Ok I've searched here, other Scion sites and Goggle and have not found an answer as yet.

My catalytic converter was clogged, guess because of the accident it was in before I got it, I've since had it gutted out but of course the cel is on now.

"Catalytic below thresh hold" and the ever popular "retarded cam's"

As my budget is low now because of the injuries I've gotten lately I was wondering if anyone knew of a place to get an after market cat at a reasonable price or of sone one who has one for sale?

I've tried the spark plug anti-fouler trick but the cel came back.

I would appreciate any help with this issue.

TIA

The anti-fouler should work.

Realize cats are required to be covered by warranty for at least 6yr/60k. (Using this approach has worked for me in the past)

The front cat, that's integrated into the exhaust mani, is likely only available through Toyota & $$$. And an aftermarket cat should work to replace the secondary, so long as NY smog ain't too strict.

Best of Luck

I was looking at one from Walker. It already has the hole for the first O2 but many have told me only the factory one will work up front.

those sparkplug antifoulers rarely work, and when they do, its only temporary.

ive had great experiences with these types

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/UNIVE...ht_4467wt_1167

my brother has had one on his 07 civic SI for over 50k miles without a CEL, and at least 2 people i know running these on tc's have had no issues.

Darn, that seems bizarre. I recently installed a header (deleting the OE pre-cat) and installed a CEL Eliminator from "Big Daddy's Garage" -- I've had no CEL issues at all!

Tell me about it. Seems this cel is going to be my burden on this car.

If you applied anti-seize and/or used anything to clean the O2 Sensor and got any on the sensor tip or inside the openings, you'll likely have trouble.

Was thinking that until today. Went to Autozone to get it checked and their machine couldn't resd it....go figure....afterwards the cel went away and hasn't been back yet...go figure with that one too. Just going to have to wait and see. Still thanks again chicotunner07.

No anti-seize at all. I was going to clean it and I didn't even do that.

Correction...the cel comes on and goes off at whim. I happened to catch it on and read it. It is NOT for the cat, it is for the infamous "retarded cam's" issue.

On that note again thank you chicotunner07 the information and product you directed me too works perfectly as you said.

Now onto those "retarded cam's"...

Thanks again everyone!

They're not "retarded", they're just mentally challenged.

"Good night folks, he'll be here all week"

All problems solved!!!
CEL was for my "mentally challenged" cam issue, turns out the cam timing oil control valve was faulty, replaced it and its all gravy baby!

Thanks everyone for your help. Now its on to finishing my system and the rest of upgrades.
