Condensation without A/C on. Anyone have this problem?
I recently notice that everytime I come back from an 1hr+ of driving, I notice a puddle of water on the ground...after its been parked for awhile. I thought it was radiator fluid, but it's water. I always drive with the fan on 1 and temperature at warm. I doubt the fan being on would cause it to condense. Well any info. would be appreciated. My car has about 7k miles. Thanks.

The only thing I can think of is if your vent is set to defrost/defog mode instead of directing flow to the upper or floor vents. That would run the A/C in order to remove moisture from the the windows.

Condensation
rockthebeef is correct. If you have your HVAC set to Defrost, it utilizes the AC to dry out the air in the cabin to help cool & to remove fog from windows. So, when you stop the condensation built up drains into a pool under your car.

Yeah... this is something I think most people don't know - defrost means A/C is on. Some people crank the heat to defog, but what you really need to do is use the A/C to remove the moisture. It seems a little counterintuitive, but it's true. If running the defrost makes it too cold in the cabin, then you add a little heat to equalize the temperature. You get the best of both worlds this way - A/C to defrost, and heat to stay warm. This is how I drive when it's rainy out and the windows start to fog up. Works like a charm in every car I've had.

Actually took our Tundra in for this. They told us you have to turn the A/C on with the defroster to get rid of it fast. The service guy also said it's the first time he has seen in on a Toyota. I then pointed to the eight other cars sitting in the service bay with the same issue...LOL
Never had issues with other brands but the running the a/c for 20 seconds does work.

A/C Running with Defrost
There must be some miscommunication with your service Department! Some one needs to tell the customers to LEAVE ON the A/C when the windows fog up! Just adjust the temp to warm air instead of letting cooled air in the car. The A/C PULLS MOISTER from the air.
The A/C is supposed to be running with your Defrost is on for the windshield for ALL vehicles. If you turn it off, then you will NOT get rid of the fogged window until the temp on the windshield is hot enough to evaporate it!
I have a 1990 Ford Ranger and even with this old truck, when the Defrost is ON, the A/C compressor is running.
