Clean the metal engine parts with some type of solvent. You're sure to get rid of most of the smell.

This is information from a number of other xB2 boards.

My xB was made in october of 2007, I don't know if that helps compute the smells or not.

I have about 5000 miles on mine.

I have smell it too, but from time to time. I have 22,100 miles on a 9 month old xB. I have checked, and found nothing. But I never took it in to the dealer.

It is vapor venting from the radiator overflow tank. All of my vehicles have this smell except for the HD of course. To get rid of the smell would result in the overflow tank not working properly. (ie pluging the vent)

What he said,
It's normal on most newer cars, worse on some than others, my wife's family are all German car nuts, and each of their cars smell of coolant so strong I swear it sticks to their clothes.

Zio talked about this on another forum. I seriously think he is onto something and figured out a problem that hopefully will be addressed in future models. I have the smell as well. Not all the time but I can smell it here and there. I am going to be getting Zios mod myself. It isn't very expensive and could save you a bunch in the long run.

Are you kidding me? You fell for that fools diagnosis? It is just the cooland overflow tank venting the cooland smell into the air.

Yeah I almost feel for that sales pitch. Now I feel like I was at the dealer that sold me the car once again. I almost got taken. In light of new information I will not be purchasing the MOD. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to post information and enlighten me. I do get the smell but it is rare and doesn't happen a whole lot. And the explanations for it certainly make sense to me.

Kudos and thanks to xseveredveganx, wrczx3, MaxBoost925 and danos_xbox on another post. I appreciate the information you all have provided. THANK YOU!!!!!

Who has the MOD and what are the problems (if any)?

God bless

I think the only person to have the mod is the Einstein that came up with the idea. I don't think it causes any problems per say except destroyng the front end of our beautiful new Xb's.
