Dome Light, Alarm and Auto-lock?

Dome Light, Alarm and Auto-lock?
I hope I don't alarm anyone, but I wonder if you folks have seen this yet?
My car is in the hands of the Toyota Field tech right now and it's the 3rd time in the shop since the problem started.
If my dome light is in "door" mode, the light won't turn off. Also, the alarm won't set and the locks won't set to "auto-lock" when I shift from park.
They are saying that they think the computer thinks a door is open, but that it can't be a door switch because the "door ajar" warning light goes off. They've reprogrammed every computer in the car so far, and are still investigating.
Anyone seen this yet? Why oh Why must I always buy so early the lifecycle!?

This is the Scion Alarm system they sell you when you get into finance and they tell you how the Scion gets stolen regularly and there is not even a basic kill switch on the car from the factory.
I got a call. Apparently when the alarm is installed, they use one of the two ground wires from the dome light. Apparently, using the wrong one causes this and possibly hoses up one of the computers. Working theory - won't know for sure until they install a new computer next week. Could install it Saturday, but it's not broken bad enough that I want to give them my sweet new car on a weekend.
I'll keep ya posted.

Me personally? I think I was sold a bill of goods, but decided to take it anyway. The other thing he said was that they take it for the Toyota parts, but the article below says that most of the Toyota's stolen are older models.
Here is a good article about stolen car lists.

Finally got this fixed. They replaced a computer and some electrical panel that could only come from Japan. Finally my doors can be set to auto-lock, my dome light works and the alarm is finally fully operational. Well - it only took 4 weeks, what am I complaining about?

If they wanted to sell me an alarm system, for me it wouldn't be a question of "is this alarm going to prevent a theft?" but "what are the incompetent dealership technicians going to mess up when they try to install it"?.
