Yeah you shouldnt have any rubbing and no big risk of scraping on bumps with the NF210's. DF's are another story.

x2. I have gone over some fairly large bumps, and as long as you drive slowly it doesn't scrape...it's close though, so you dont want to be taking any bumps at high speed.

You guys have convinced me that there shouldn't be any problem with the 18" wheels/tires, even with a modest drop. So, I pulled the trigger on the 18x8 Kosei K1 TS and the Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 tires in the 225/40/18 size. Here's a photo of the wheels:



My final decision came down to these wheels and tires in 17" or 18" sizes. Cost wasn't really a factor. The 18" rims are on closeout at Tirerack for $179.00 and the tires are $114.00 each - for a total of $293.00 per corner (or $280.50 + shipping after the $50 Hankook rebate). The same wheels in 17x7 are $196.00 and $90.00 for the 225/45/17 Hankooks - total of $286.00 per corner (or $273.50 + shipping after rebate). So, I basically got the 18x8 wheels and tires for the same price as the 17x7 wheels and tires.

BTW, if anyone is looking for the Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 tires in 225/45/17 size, the Tirerack price of $90.00 each ($77.50 after rebate) is a great price on these tires. The rebate expires on 8/31. So, if you're looking to buy these tires, you only have a couple days to get them before the rebate expires.

I had Tirerack ship the wheels and tires directly to a local installer. They should be delivered Wednesday or Thursday and I have an appointment for Thursday afternoon to get them installed, including transferring the TPMS sensors from the stock wheels to the new ones.

I'm also waiting on a call from my dealer to set up an appointment to get the rear spoiler installed. I bought the car Sunday evening (to get in under the cash for clunkers deadline) and their service department wasn't open. Hopefully, by this time next week, I'll have the new wheels/tires and spoiler installed.

Then it's time to drop it. Still deciding between the TRD springs and the NF210s. I'm leaning towards the NF210s.

OK, after reading this thread and the entire 341 post NF210 megathread, I went ahead and ordered the NF210s from ptuningscion.com. They were closed today (I ordered them through their web site). So, they should ship Monday. Hopefully, by this time next week, I'll have the new wheels and tires installed, the rear spoiler installed and the box dropped.

I'll probably do the install myself. I'd kind of like to get them installed before the new wheels/tires are installed on Thursday.

Originally, I wanted the springs installed first so the wheel/tire install shop could also do the alignment at the same time. However, now I'm thinking I should let the springs settle for a week or two before doing the alignment. My daily commute is only 3.5 miles each way, and I don't have any long trips planned. So, I'm not worried about tire wear during the settling period. I'm more concerned about long term wear.

The lowest delivered price currently on eBay is $216.99 including UPS Ground shipping (which takes about a week). Most eBay sellers are in the $208 - $210 range + $22 - $30+ shipping for UPS Ground. That puts them at, or above the total delivered price from ptuningscion.com. Based on comments I've ready about delivery times (typically 2 days), I believe ptuninglscion uses USPS Priority Mail for shipping.

So, I did not get the absolute rock bottom minimum price, but the price I paid is competitive, I'll get the springs sooner (~ 2 days vs. ~ 1 week), I'm supporting a site sponsor, and I know I'm getting genuine new Tanabe springs with full manufacturer's warranty.

I got the cheapest ones on eBay for the $216.99. Took a couple of days to deliver, so it wasn't too bad. Genuine Tanabe springs too.

That's the cheapest total delivered price I could find, but I didn't spend too much time looking. Most of the eBay sellers that list them at a lower price (say $196) turn around and charge $39.00 for UPS Ground shipping.

This was the part that scared me away from the eBay seller with the lowest delivered price: "Allow 1-5 Business Days for shipment, and up to 15 business days for receipt of the item." I didn't want to wait that long. I want them this week, the earlier the better.

I don't mind that I paid $16 more to support a site sponsor. I'm a small business owner myself (not automotive related) and like to support other small business owners and help them staty in business. Nothing wrong with shopping on eBay, but I tend to think of eBay sellers more as people who have a full time job and sell on eBay earn a little extra cash. Again, nothing wrong with that, but I'd rather spend my money at a site sponsor, like ptuningscion.com that is dedicated to providing parts and service to Scion owners.

And speaking of site sponsors, I just saw a banner ad from tirerack.com that says the $50 rebate on a set of four Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 tires to November 30. As I mentioned in an earlier post, tirerack.com has the Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 tires in 225/45/17 size, at $90.00 each ($77.50 after rebate). I just watched the DF210 install video on Youtube. Did you rent/borrow a spring compressor, or did you do your installation without one. I'm thinking about doing the install myself. It's been over 20 years since I've done any similar work (replaced the front struts on my 84 CRX) and I remember renting a spring compressor for that job. So, I'm wondering if one would be necessary (or at least helpful) for installing the NF210s.

You absolutely need a set of spring compressors to install the front springs. You'll hurt yourself when the springs pops out after you unbolt the top of the strut without the compressing the spring. I got mine at AutoZone. They charge you $50 or so then return the full amount when you bring them back.

My rear springs are uneven, I'm trying to figure out how to fix that. The right side has a 3 fingers gap and the left has a 2 finger gap...anyone have any ideas?
