Default E-brake/ "BRAKE" light issues........is this norma

So yesterday this was the second time since owning my car that I have seen the "BRAKE" light on the cluster turn while driving. I took off from a dead stop quite fast (not too crazy like a burnout or anything) and saw the "BRAKE" light illuminate for a second.

Out of curisotiy I stopped and fiddled with the e-brake and this things seems really really sensitive. I can use my pinky and lightly lift it up with ease and it turns on. Anyone else have this problem? Can the e-brake be adjusted to make it tighter?

Yeah i just changed my pads and the light went away. HOw many miles do you have on your XB? oh and btw save yourself some money if they are brake pads chances are that the fronts are worn but the rears are perfectly fine. I just changed my brake pads and I was ____ed to see that the rears still had a ton pad left on them. Now does anyone know how to Break in Brake Pads??? Sorry to thread jack I tried searching and this was the closest post around!!

I have 4700 miles. I seriously doubt its the pads guys. The e-brake handle is extremely flimsy, like I said I can lightly lightly tap it with the tip of my finger and the handle will move and the "BRAKE" light goes off. I'm talking like lifting it a millimeter and it trips the "BRAKE" light..........

Mine does the same thing and has from day one. It's just the switch that is activated when you pull the brake handle is very sensitive. You might be able to adjust it, I don't recall if the switch was threaded for adjustment.

This is NOT due to the issue that tCs have, not at 5k miles. Your e-brake needs adjusted. Mine was loose from the factory, I mentioned it at the first service, and they tightened it up for me. Just go to the dealer; it seems most were loose from the factory.
