No it doesn't.. It is used to return to the map screen / repeate the last/next voice prompt in your directions.

I know Randodes mod is the good long term way to bypass the blackout on the Nav unit, but has anyone found a way to just turn it off/bypass it? Possibly a programmers code?

The one list previously was for a different Lexus model and I could not get it to work on my unit.

ooo... i just found something cool. with randode's mod, if you leave the switch in the 'on' position when turning the car off, the nav will track you, guide you, and you can still type or mess with the ipod while moving when you turn the car back on... you don't have to switch it to off to get the nav to work. so now, i don't even use the switch. i just leave it in the on position and everything works while moving with no problem... that's a bonus i did not expect.

looking over the install instructions for the nav unit there isnt an option to overide anything, but there may be a screen that they do not illustrate.

i sent a quick email the other day to TRDsparks and the scion SNS page has the tC and xb2 specific instructions now so you can see how to the diagnostic thing.

(b) Press the "DISP" button to display the initial search screen. (Fig. 4-2).

(c) In order to display the "System Check Mode" screen, touch areas A and B, indicated on the screen, in the following order: A

i dont like not being ablee to use the iPod connector and steering wheel controls already in the car so the only option for me is the SNS. to spend all that and then not be able to use something i already have, or spend more to buy something else to replace/make what i already have so it would work, is stupid to me, i dont mind spending a little extra for the SNS.

It's like $1400 for the D3 with steering wheel control/iPod/bluetooth/satellite and dvd nav. about $600 cheaper. If you just want iPod and steering wheel control its usually around $1200 installed. Don't know where you heard about not being able to use steering wheel control or iPod

the plugs i already have is the stock one, nodody says it'll work with anything each time i have asked and dont want to have to take it all out to have to buy another one to try and fit in there and look as clean.
and i dont like the way the steering wheel controls act after haveing the adapter wired in, there was a delay.
and then with me wiring in my system off of the stock subwoofer harness, dunno how that would work with the aftermarket HU. but i doubt i have to worry about that at all.

but with the frustration i had with just trying to put new speakers and an amp in i dont wanna take ANY kind of chance that something isnt gonna work how i want it and end up having to spend more money just to get the bare minimum to work.
I have been told too many times that something will work when it really doesnt,
I had an amp and was told "X" speakers will work great with that amp, turns out "X" speakers dont and are gonna blow so i was then told that "Y" speakers would work better and fit in exactly where "X" speakers were, now i have a set of $300 components just sitting in my living room cause, they dont work and I have to spend more just for them to fit in the damn speaker holes, not ____ing how much more i might need for them to make any kind of noise cause knowing my luck they wont when i get them plugged in.

I know the SNS will work regardless of what i have done, i dont have that with the D3, however awesome.

Ok, I grounded the parking break sensor (red) and added a switch to the vehicle speed sensor (purple). I couldn't find the green wire that you are talking about, but the mod still works. Although, I did have to disconnect the battery to get the Check Engine light and VSC error to go off. So...what exactly is this green wire? and what is it supposed to do? and do I need it?

I may by mistaken, but the two wires you cut/modify are the speed sensor wire and the reverse signal wire most likely. I could be wrong...
