OK. Long story short. I had the viper 791 alarmed installed today at best buy and the installer accidentally pulled out two cables from the fuse box? They're green and purple wires that are pretty long and loose from any of the other wiring behind there. I BELIEVE these are the wires and randode specified to cut (green) and add a switch to (purple). Anyways, he didn't know how to put them back so he left it. Everything still works, but shouldn't I be able to watch dvds and type in addresses and whatnot while driving? Didn't he accidentally do randode's bypass? Oh yea, since all that was done i told him to ground the red wire already so i AM able to watch dvd's with the ebrake off. So umm...HELP.

sorry it wasn't that short of a story

you just have to cut the purple wire behind the nav and install a switch, then it will work.
you are almost there.

So the cable that he pulled out is the wrong one? It's completely disconnected from the fuse box. So one side is connected to the nav I THINK, and the other is just dangling to the left of the steering wheel

They sell those rocker switches at Radio shack for like $4. Thats what I used except I have mine placed on the left of my steering column where the blank slots were.

ok i'm confused. whether i add a switch to the purple wire or not, isn't it not going to make a difference because it's disconnected? that's another problem. i dont even know where to plug it back in.

I tried to enter the service menu (per the instructions at TRD Sparks), and couldn't get it to work.

I really want to get in there. I saw in the manual some sort of menu options for Bluetooth and Camera.

Thanks Randode, I don't see them on your site?

dontrobme, my Scion security glass breakage sensor is installed in that area.

sorry to keep on bugging you guys but I still don't know what to do about those cables. I checked that manual from trdsparks and all it says it that it is not necessary to plug in the purple cable. I am still not able to watch or type while driving

My recommendation would be to have them REPAIR the wires they pulled out of the fuse panel. Then from there do the mod on the wires for the SNS

Yeah, I never would have left their shop with items not the way they should be.

you guys are looking at the wrong purple wire. the one you found is disconnected from the factory.
the wire you want is plugged into the back of the nav.
its the thin purple wire in a plug with a bunch of other wires.
this is the purple wire to cut and add the switch into.

Sorry if this is a repeat question....

Not sure how many people played enough with their stereo before hacking it... do these fixes for the DVD and Nav system lock out also correct the MP3 CD Navigation lockout when you start driving?

That's what's been ____ing me off. It's kind of neat that you can navigate through the mp3 folders similar to the computer. Move up a folder, etc... but when you're driving you can't scroll the folder list. You get the first 4 (or whatever set you ended up on last.... so if you want a new folder while driving you just have to keep jumping tracks till you get it.

Looks to be tied in with speed, so i guess the GPS fix is going to be the same fix for this (the switch).

so far highly impressed with everything except the 'safety features'

So me and my buddy are trying to do this mod to his new Xb, but we need a little help...

1. Which purple wire do I cut, the one on the left or the right?

2. The green wire that I cut under the dash is the one that is not bundled with others wires correct? I found a single green wire above the fuse panel, im guessing thats the one.

3. Once I cut the correct purple wire, What prong do I solder the wire too?

Pic of switch from the front

Thanks guys
