Whoever has an 08 xB please look at the back doors to see if you have on the bottom like vinyl stickers on the outside.

I don't know what it is or why it is there i want to take it off.

let the sun heat it up for a couple of hours and Peels off pretty easily. Moer so than first thing in the morning. trust me on that tip. Oh it will hurt your fingers some bot not as bad as doing it when tape is cold.

Are you talking about the clear vinyl on the sides of the car near the rear wheels?

If you are, that is the rock chip protection. You can peel it off if you want, but the massive number of rock chips will be way uglier than the clear vinyl.

This stuff is just like what people are paying a good amount of money to put all over the front of their cars to protect it from rock chips. I will most certainly be leaving mine in place.

 

this sounds like a "i don't know what is is so I'll get rid of it" situation. if i were you i would leave them on. i rather have a clear vinyl sticker that no one will prolly even notice than chips in the paint that will be noticeable.

 

The color of the vinyl is the color of the car. the way I noticed it was the edges were in some spots white.

If it serves a purpose I'd like to know because I've never seen it on the old xB model.

It's the same thing with the black tape/plastic around the windows that so many people are talking about removing. I talked to my salesman and he explained it's there because that's where people usually grab the doors when they shut the doors. If you don't have that protective barrier there then you have fingerprints all over the car doors next to the windows.

I'm sure you can avoid that if you constantly clean the area around the doors with a microfiber cloth, but I'd rather leave the tape/plastic around the windows and not have to worry about fingerprintson my paint.
