Default getting weapon-r headers and s-pipe, need high flow cat

I'm planning on getting the weapon-r headers and s-pipe, which would eliminate the stock cat. I want the car to be legal without a lot of air restriction, so I guess the best option is a high flow cat? I want to leave the scuba in, is there another place to put a high flow cat? also, what's a good high flow cat to get? links would be greatly appreciated. thanks

if your planning on getting the header..and you have and aftermarket midpipe which deletes that cat you would have to get a custom midpipe done in order to have the cat and a resanator in there...you can get catco...vibrant....and other are good hi-flow cat...i personally have the catco hi-flow cat cause its looks exactly like the stock Cat from the tc only thats its hi-flow one.....what i did was bought another midpipe that had a resantor on there.....had them bascially cut that out weld in the cat and put back the resanator with extra piping here and there so it bolts up to my current system....

Was that in place of the scuba or a different part of the piping?

There is a cat in the scuba as well I think. It does not hurt anything by loosing the first cat at all. It does free up some air flow for sure though.

There is no cat in the scuba tank. In order to be street legal you would need to replace BOTH stock cats with hi-flow ones somewhere through out the exhaust system.

there two stock cats..one on the header itself and one on the front of the midpipe the small one.....it doesnt hurt to remove the first one on the header but i do recommed getting a hi-flow one on the midpipe

The scuba tank has an after-cat in it, I had mine replaced with a resonator 2 days ago. Oh, and by the way it sounds awesome now along with the TRD axle-back.

Has anyone taken an xB2 through an emissions inspection without the front cat yet? I don't see how else we can find out whether losing it is OK.

Well considering how new these cars are, I doubt they'd pass emissions without the cats...

I strongly suspect they need the cat in the scuba, but the front cat is less obvious. Except for CA maybe?

does it really matter?

when i went to orlando in may for a vacation, i was stopped in orlando by a florida state trooper who asked me about what kind of exhaust i had (i wasn't speeding or anything, i was too lost to be speeding) i proceeded to say full 3 inch custom made exhaust with a cat, resonator and muffler.

he then told me that it is illegal to operate any motorvehicle in florida with anything other than the factory exhaust.

which is funny, cuz florida doesn't even have vehicle inspections or anything.

he let me off with a warning, but i thought he was just BS'ing me about my exhaust to check me out for something else, but he was right, so technically any exhaust is illegal in your state.

anyway, the moral of the story is, get very quiet, very stock looking exhaust. you only need 1 high flow cat. the car only cares if one of the cats is working with the OEM set-up.

Yes or no, it depends on your State! My State is taking emisions inspection very seriously at time of re-registration, I understand there are others that don't. Their visual inspection would probably be satisfied with the scuba, but I don't know what their exhaust sniffer would think if the first cat were absent -- hopefully, of course, it wouldn't notice !

i just got my car through emissions. all md does is make sure you have a gas cap, aren't emitting noticible smoke, and no CEL. inspections are every 2 years.

although, when i was asked to pull my car through, i just let the car idle while slowing letting out the clutch, giving it absolutely no gas, so the epically loud exhaust wouldn't make them consider failing me.

u got to remember a REF inspection is way more advanced then local smog shop.

Refs are required to look at model numbers on the cats. if ur car is under warranty it must have stock cats. :-\ lol
