Must have been do'n something to get the police officers attention, I KNOW he didn't pull you over just for your exhaust.. Lemme guess, speeding?, in a parking lot with other like cars showing off your stuff?. or something to that effect...
not really cali has a law that states that you can get pulled over and pop your hood for no reason other than the cop feeling the car might be modifiied.

I'm pretty sure there is no truth to that at all. I've been riding for 15+ years and I've never heard that before.

Cops just don't generally care about ticketing Harley riders and their loud pipes. Who ____es off cops more, Harley riders or Import Car drivers? Who ____es off the general public with their noise more? Cruisers or Imports?

That is why you get the tickets and usually the Harleys don't. It's been my experience that Cops are far more likely to ticket a "ricer" before "American Iron".

I'm pretty sure there is a bit of truth to this. A veteran cop was telling us this and he said they usually give the Harley guys tickets for other things.

Man I love living in Vegas...I kever get stopped for anything of mine (tinted front windows, tinted windsheild, white turns). I would get pulled over if I gave a reason (speeding away, loud revving). Sucks though...

Some may say that the person was pulled over for driving agressively but I see bikes doing the same thing. I have never heard an exhaust louder than one coming from a modified Harley. Noise pollution is noise pollution. Hey if cars get cited for loud exhaust , let's cite the bikes also right? Fair is fair. My two cents.
Still no word from borla

This would only be true if the Harley in question is an old bike. Any late model Harley is not exempt from noise emission laws. That's probably what the cop meant.

This is what CA state laws says about bike exhausts...

27202. For the purposes of Section 27200, the following noise
limits shall apply to any motorcycle, other than a motor-driven
cycle, manufactured:

(1) After 1969, and before 1973 ............ 88 dbA
(2) After 1972, and before 1975 ............ 86 dbA
(3) After 1974, and before 1986 ............ 83 dbA
(4) After 1985 ............................. 80 dbA

27150. (a) Every motor vehicle subject to registration shall at all
times be equipped with an adequate muffler in constant operation and
properly maintained to prevent any excessive or unusual noise, and
no muffler or exhaust system shall be equipped with a cutout, bypass,
or similar device.

I wonder how the 88 dBA is measured. I have performed some noise testing on consumer products and I'd say 99.99% of Harley's are much louder than 88 dBA. It must be measured at a really low RPM like 1500 or 2000.

cops mess with ricers more than bikers knowing that bikers are more likely to fight the ticket. Ricers show up to court afraid of loosing their license ready to make a deal. Bikers show up with a folder full of presadints and laws from the last twenty years. Bikers are ready to fight all the way to the supreme court and they have plenty of their own time to waste so they are more than happy to chew up the courts time until the case gets thrown out. Thirty years ago bikers were greasers and dead beats like todays ricers. Now you meet someone on a harley and they are a banker or lawyer. With the money conections and knowledge you can turn the tables and make things just as uncomfortable for the cop as for the person getting the ticket.

In Canada the doppers managed to change the cannabis laws by clogging up the courts. Instead of paying the 25 dollar possession ticket the smokers started fighting the tickets. Soon enough the courts were so backed up with possession offenders that the system started to break down. The locall magistrate had no chose but to direct the local constables to stop issueing possession tickets, and now we have a new ampsterdam.

Fight all tickets no matter how small or meaningless. A drop of rain got together with some friends and knocked over the leveys in new orleans. What is happening to moders in cali is BS, you guys need to get organized.

The double standard that exists where I live for noisey motorcycles is unbelievable. A Harley with straight pipes accelerating away from a stop is the worst kind of noise pollution. Drives me crazy.

A lot of cops are also serious motorcycle enthusiasts.

Now THAT really does suck. Sounds like false advertising to me, but I don't know what recourse you have. Probably more trouble than it's worth, but I would at least spread the word so nobody else gets screwed.

Seems odd, because isn't Borla a California company?
