Unhappy HD Radio wont work with HID lights on 2012 XB

Okay,

So i just bought the Morimoto Elite 35w HID kit. I installed the kit in about 30 minutes and was very happy with the light output and quality of the kit however now I notice that my HD radio will not work while the HID lights are on.

To be more detailed what is happening is that the HD logo will be on the radio while my lights are off but as soon as I turn them on the HD logo dissapears and i get a good amount of static coming through the speakers...and then as soon as I turn them off the HD logo comes back and the static goes away.

I have read that bad ground points can cause this so I stripped away the paint from the ground points and tried several locations but still am getting the same issue.

Is anyone else having this issue? I have a 2012 XB.

I am not sure what else to try and I would like to keep my Hid's but If i cant get rid of the static I may go back to the stock Halogens.

Please help! Thanks!

Sounds like your using a relay.
I have a 12 as well with ddm 55watt kit with no relay.
Try hooking up the kit without the relay and see if it works then.

Yes I am using the relay that came with the kit.

Okay, thanks for the advice I will give that a try.

Am i risking anything by not using the relay or is it safe?

I tried hooking it up without the relay and got the same result:/

I even tried wrapping the ballasts in tin foil and that helped a little bit but still lots of static and no HD.

Where did you mount the ballast at?
The location could be messing with your radio.

I mounted the ballast to the frame to right right of the fuse box on the drivers side and to the frame on the passenger side. I used velcro to hold them down. I did try moving the ballast to a few spots that it would reach but it didn't seem to make a difference.

I read in another forum of someone saying to mount them lower to the ground so i might give that a try if i can find a good spot.
