Default Headlights put themselves on today... why??? MobileHID's...

Weird...

I don't know if anybody had this happen before, but my headlights magically put themselves on today.

My dad came inside said my headlights were on, and it was weird because I have not drove the car in 2-3 days. I go out, thinking maybe I left my lights on when I went inside the car or or something but find out my lights are OFF. So i put them on (which doesnt do anything), then off again and they shut off.

Any idea why this may have happened? I never heard of this before.

I have had my kit for a few months now no issues, this is a new one to me! Is there any thing that would cause my headlights to come on without me putting them on? Such as locking doors, anything?

Just confused!

You hadn't driven the car in a few days. It was lonely and wanted attention. You're lucky it didn't get really mad and drive away.

Sound like your relay is going, get in touch with cliff, he'll prolly send you a new one. Or run out to AutoZone and get another.

i took it apart and it was full of rust. my lights would just randomly shut off

Yep. If the relay shorts in the closed position, it will turn the headlights on. if It's stuck open, they wont turn on at all.

My p/s headilght is flikering right now for some reason. still working on that one.

if you leave the pass side OE light harness plug just hanging there
it could get wet and cause a short

And these were with your Mobil HID lights? Do his kits have just a single box which inlcudes the ballast, relay and igniter?

Took apart the relay and it was rusted. I cleaned it and talked to cliff about getting replacement or whatnot. We shall see

Thanks for the help!

Well had trouble with them flickering when they turn on then not at all, but then after that they seem to start up fine. Still want to replace the parts but hope they have no issues until then.

Found a relay today at Radio shack. Cleaned the female part of the relay and installed new one, generously electrical taped it, then re-placed it by the air intake in the bay (before it layed the other way, closer to the grill). Works perfectly again, and hopefully I can keep the water out this time!

Both.

Sometimes they would not even turn on. The relay totally shot (rusted, dripping a wet orange rusty fluid, haha)

The new one works like new again and starts up immediately. I just found the relay for $6.99 for a 40amp automotive relay. Autozone and stuff only had 30amp relays, at least at mine. Would that work if I needed in the future, or does it have to be 40?

good to hear the problem is solved. driving at night is dangerous especially when your lights can just shut off on you

Well they never just shut off on me luckily, they turned themselves on though ;)

Only if I shut them off and tried to put them back on they may not come back, lol. Luckily all fixed!
