Wow, you would think they could/would make the improvement in the pump. Does anybody know why they are failing? Is it the bearings or the gasket or what?

It probably has a lot to do with that pink coolant. Just flush your system out and put the red coolant in. The windshield crack is a stress crack. Most of the xBs I see the cracks on have special low profile tires and/or suspension modifications that add to the stress. Are you running stock rims or aftermarket?

Ouch, you did everything right and it still cracked. I had inquired with my insurance company about windshields and they said it just falls under comprehensive, there is no special coverage available for windshields. That is AAA.

Im gonna watch the crack. Where it is, its not really annoying so Im not too concerened right now. I do not think a rock hit it, it just does not look like it. Water pump will be fixed shortly though. I have a $500 deductible, so I'll pay the few hundred for the new windshield.

OK, so what is the red coolant -- also Toyota? If the recommended coolant is killing our pumps, I definitely don't need it ! You know, over a number of vehicles in the past, I've absolutely never had a problem with the coolant pump -- this is really ridiculous!

Future xB owner here: So the windshields randomly break on these things without rocks hitting them? How common is that?

Is the dealership covering broken glass, that hasn't been broken by rocks, under the warranty?
