How a Scion xB Gen 2 is built
According to this AutoWeek review,

Kanto's web site has this page which overviews the assembly process:

I was really impressed with the electrically charged, immersion anti-rust treatment to the body shell. Very cool.

Toyota's Calty studio in Newport Beach, Calif., handled the exterior design. But Toyota subsidiary Kanto Auto Works handled the interior design and most of the engineering. Kanto also will build the vehicle.

From the article:
Nuts and bolts: The vehicle went on sale Tuesday, May 1. Scion hopes to sell 42,500 units this year before settling at an annual pace of about 60,000.
60,000 per year is about 1000 a month more than the 1st gen, IIRC.
Nice find, btw.
