Default Just got one

I just picked up my BCM xB, so far I really like it.

I decided to go with a 5 speed because I have never owned one before and I wanted to learn how to do it. I did pretty good getting it home from the dealer, only stalled twice wich I think thats not to bad.

So far my whole family keeps saying yuor going to hate a stick shift, so I guess I will se about that.

Anyways are there any pointers you pro's can tell me about starting out on a hill? thats my biggest fear is drifting back to far and ramming the guy behind me.

Pull up the ebrake aka parking brake on a hill so that you can let off the brake pedal then act like you are trying to start out normally with a little more throttle tho and as soon as the clutch is engaged enough where the motor doesnt die and the car wants to lerk forward let off the ebrake and go.... thats the way i did it till i got enough confidence to just let off the brakes and go for it. even on the steepest hills now i dont roll back much. (when i lived in seattle)

^ x2 - where I learnt to drive, if you roll back on your test it's an instant fail. So, we practice hill starts a lot. It's a good technique. I still use it on steep hills. Saves burning your clutch out holding it at the biting point for too long.

I just rev and release. I have more skidmarks on my road then a homeless womans underwear!

One thing I hate about driving a stick is a get bad knee pains after moving in slow traffic. All clucth break clutch gas, clutch brake clutch gas.

You'll love the manual once you get used to it. I still enjoy it on my almost-dead subaru, and its a short shift with a bad clutch.

If it wern't for my sports injury on my left ankle I'd buy a 5spd
