Just scored a Toyota Care Platinum '0' DD for $600
Hey peeps, if your xB is nearing the end of it's original 3 yr/36k bumper to bumper, you can still get an extended warranty. If you're under 36k miles and within 90 days they can still cover you or if you are under both 3yrs and 36k miles you are good to go. I just scored their Platinum ToyotaCare 6 yr/100k zero deductible warranty - this is the best one Toyota Offers, for just $600. Dealers sell these for AT LEAST twice this much and I've seen them charge three times this much. (gulp)
The cool thing is that even if you never use it, it adds value to your vehicle down the road if you ever sell it - especially if it's a private party.
If you wanna get one for the same price call Scott at Acton Toyota at 978-431-5860 ... that's his direct dial. You buy it over the phone. I posted this in one other forum, not because I'm spamming but because I volunteered to spread the word for giving me such a great deal. I'm not affiliated in any way, nor do I get any compensation, just passing along a good deal if you might be interested.

When buying a used Toyota/Scion at a dealership that was a trade-in you can however purchase a Toyota Extra Care Used Car VSA of varying time/mileage limitations depending on how old the used car is, and how many miles it has on it. This VSA must be purchased at the same time as the vehicle, from the dealership selling the vehicle.

BTW, nice deal!

Yea, if sold or traded to a dealer you could always cash it in and get a check for its prorated value back. But if a private party has to choose between a vehicle with an extended warranty vs. one without, all things being equal, you KNOW how much it helps close the sale. ;)

Normally I would agree, but after having the epidemic leaking water pump replaced, both front hub & bearing assemblies replaced, and a turn signal relay failure that required two hours of labor time to diagnose (grand total about $1900) all covered by the warranty and extended service agreement, I'll get it every time when it's $600 instead of the $1500 I was quoted when I originally purchased my xB.
Fortunately I haven't had the faulty coil-pack or wiring harness issues that some owners have experienced.

My local Toyota dealership gets reimbursed $118/hr for warranty work. They just submitted the work order for the bad bearing assemblies, and it was approved. They did of course have the bad bearing assemblies to return to Toyota for inspection.
I didn't even bring it up, but I'm only dropped on NF springs which are about the same drop as TRD's, so they couldn't prove the bearings failed because of the drop anyway. The bearings are also a known occasional issue anyway, so at 76k+ miles I don't think it was a big surprise. Most owners rely on the quality Toyota reputation, and don't buy the extended service contract, so I don't imagine they have to cover them very often. I say just take it in, and don't bring up your drop.
