Default Moving out west, how do I tow my xB?

OK, here is my dilemma. I have a 1988 Chevy 1500 for my lawn care business and a 2005 xB for fun (obviously!).

I live in Kentucky and am moving back to California around Juneish. I have looked at several options:
Tow xB with Chevy
Rent Uhaul & Tow xB & sell Chevy & rebuy one in Cali
Drive to Cali with xB & have friend drive Chevy
Drive to Cali with xB & sell Chevy & rebuy one in Cali

I don't have a whole lot, so it's not too bad for me to just go with one car filled up. I really don't mind it. BUT what I do have to do is get ALL of my lawn equipment to Cali (2-3 mowers, trimmer, blower, the rest I can rebuy cheap in Cali), so the xB factor would shake that considerably.

What do you guys think?

I'm looking for the LEAST EXPENSIVE options I can go with (less than $800 for the part hopefully).

Would a simple Universal Tow Bar work for the box behind the Chevy? Keep in mind that I drive an Automatic.

Thanks everyone!

Pay a friend a little bit to drive the xB along with you, then fly them back.
Cheapest way to keep everything!

BTW, aren't you moving out WEST!?!

Do you have any family living nearby? because family cant chaaaarge you. Its against family code. Definantly cheaper than a friend.

It's almost 1:30am in Kentucky, what do you do for work?

Cost will depend on how good a friend it is.
Watch the Richard Prior movie "Moving" before you let anybody drive your xB.

Where you movin' to in California?

I live now with Mom & younger siblings, but am going back to be closer to where I was raised & where the majority of my extended family is at.

I'm a night shift rent-a-cop (well...Sergeant/Supervisor), and all I do is sit here and make sure the other officers are doing their jobs. So yes...lol. Fun, right?

Hard to beat the SoCal weather; I served 10 years in West L.A., then escaped.

Hah, I miss the weather SO much. We've had ice storms & too much snow for me. I also think my box would like the warmer weather as well, he'd get less salt each winter to eat him up.

I figured out my best bet for getting the Chevy to Cali--SELL IT & buy a different one in Cali. I can save the $750+ in gas, and instead I can add a hitch & rent a small uhaul trailer to haul my mower & equip in so it won't be in the box.

Hah, how does that sound?

If you have a friends/family in socal, fly em out to kentucky and have them drive the xb back here in socal.

Or, tow the Chevy with the XB..LOL...jk

If your not too attached to the chevy, that might be the way to go but do you really want to tow with a car that has a 1.5 motor on it? Might cost you more in the long run

just my thoughts

U-Haul car-tow trailer. or is there already a trailer on the back of the truck?

generem - I do have LOTS of family in Cali, so that could be a possibity, but then again, with California's strict emissions laws, the truck WILL NOT PASS especially with it not having an exhaust and a few other key items, haha.

I also do have another 40k miles on the extended GM warranty I added that'll cover almost ANYTHING (including the engine & tranny), so if for some reason I do decide to *eff* up the box, it's always covered!

What do you think of that?

I'm looking mainly for a 4x8 or SMALLER trailer to load up some junk (mower, trimmer, blower, silverware, dinnerware, chairs, etc. The box itself will take my mattress & laptop w/ printer and what not.

I think this could very well work...with a little tweaking!

Install the TRD super charger on the xb and your good to go..lol Ya Cali does have a very strict emmision law so you might be better off getting rid of the chevy and just buy another one when your here already. I work in Anaheim and its pretty damn expensive to live here but I wouldnt live anywhere else (except of Maui with a fishing pole)
