Default Need help with tire rub on my XB with NF's on 18's.

OK so like I said yesterday I got my new NF's installed with my 225/45/18's. I am very happy with the ride but it is rubbing a lot more than I expected. When I hit any good size dip or bump the front tire rub. Also when I take a corner that has a bump I get a pretty good rub. Anybody have any ideas on how to get rid of this?

Where is it rubbing? I know of others with NF springs and 225 tires in the same diameter, or even slightly larger, on +40 offset wheels that have reported no rubbing.

I'm wondering if the brand tires you have are a little larger than other brands, even though they're still 225/45-18.

It looks like they are rubbing on the top outside plastic edge of the fender. The marks on the tires are not sharp at all. Can I roll the front fenders?

I plan on going to the NF's too....I am running a 235/40-18 tire.

So I am a little worried about this.

Yes, you can roll the front fenders, but I don't know if that will completely get rid of the rubbing or not. It certainly won't hurt anything, and is worth a try.

I did some research on the Falken tire website, and found out that the ZE-912's do have a larger diameter than the 225/45-18 calculates out to. Normally that size tire should have a 26" diameter, and the 912's are actually listed as having a 26.3" outside diameter. Just for comparison, their FK-452's and Azenis RT-615's in the same size are listed as having 26.0" and 25.9" diameters respectively.

As we see from above, the exact tire dimensions can vary from brand to brand, and even within the same brand. 235/40-18 should have an outside diameter of 25.4" which is .8" smaller in diameter than XBnewbie's Falken 912's. If your Sportmax 502's are 18x7.5 +42, you should be fine; if they are 18x8.5 +35, you will rub up front.

Haha. Get smaller tires then.

45 profile on an 18 is pretty big.

Should have gotten 225/40/18. Those fit purrrfect without any modifications.
