new 08 RS owner looking to modify for some performance
Ok, heres the thing....
I am not a mechanic, and I get a little lost in all the jargon...so here is my question to all the guru's...
I want to step up the perfomance, the sound, and of course the look. Not necessarily in that order but I would like to know what suggestions you all may have for me to achieve this.
New rims, exhaust, lowering, headers, cold air intake, but beyond that, I have no idea about the other things that make up all of this....
Any help with ideas, dealers, pics of your rides with your suggestions would be hugely appreciated.
Send stuff or post here would be great
Thanks

Since no one has jumped on this i will.
Lowering:
I currently have sprint springs which lower the car 2.0" in all around. They are extremely good for handling and performance. However, you need a camber kit for the front struts so you can get a proper alignment on the car. Its a bolt that has a lobe on it like a cam shaft so you can properly adjust the camber. Second con of going this low, car handles well but the ride comfort is not so well. Car looks awesome but loading the car with passengers is a experience. My suggestion is to buy the trd springs. I had them on my car before, its a 1" in the front and about 1.5" in the rear. It will take away body roll on turns still giving you the performance. While still maintaining the ride comfort. Not nearly as much of a lowered look but it still gives you comfort. The shocks wont bottom out like they would with the sprints. So i would go with the trd springs and some 19" wheels, trust me on this. I am going back the trd springs and throwing some bigger wheels on it.
Example:
Sprint springs
Trd's, the guy next to me also has trd springs but with 19" wheels instead of 18"
old school photo right there.

Hey BFD, great looking ride. I do like the look of the extremely lowered 2nd gen's but I will be using this vehicle as a commuter so the ride itself is important as well. I had read about the lowering and seen a couple of posts regarding the different springs and lowering kits.
You just confirmed the TRD kit that I had thought about.
Thanks for the tip, and the pics of your killer ride.

1) NF 210s + TRD rear sway bar
2) 17" rims wrapped in 215/55/17
3) Lip kit (5 Axis, Bomex, AIT)
4) Borla Dual Exhaust (for 5 Axis or Bomex) or Tanabe Single Exhaust (for AIT)
The tire size I'm suggesting is a little bigger, but I did notice a substantial ride quality difference going from 215/55/17 to my current 225/45/17 setup. In a couple of months, I'll probably go back to 215/55/17 not only because the ride was so much better, but also to close up the tire gap a little using the taller wheel.
IMO, I would focus on engine performance last. Even if you add exhaust, intake, and headers to an XB, it still makes for a very slow car, so why waste money or sacrifice MPG?
